Daytona 500

This will be our first 500 and will be camping in the red zone of the infield. My question is when do we have to be out after the race. The acknowledgement from the track says "good thru Sunday". Does that mean we have to leave right after the race or can we leave Monday morning?

Also how is the traffic when leaving?

Monday by 12 Noon, but not enforced that much, traffic is usually still heavy till 10 a.m. leaving.

We are going to be at Daytona 2008 for our very first in person NASCAR race ever and this being the 50th anniversary we had choose this one. We are part of a Camping World Tour package.

We are camping in Deland at the Volusia Fairgrounds. Supposed to have full hookups and showers. Anyone who knows about this place, please clue us in. Is it nice or nasty? We don't mind roughing it but with the price of the trip sure hope the CG is OK.

i'm green with envy here. i so want to do the 50th at daytona, just not sure i can get all my duckys in a row. i am herding them the best i can to make it happen.

Wish I could be there with you folks. I did the infield (red zone) this year. Except for the cold, we had a great time. And yes, you can loly-gag on your departure, Monday. This past race, I didn't leave until 10:30 or so.
Also, I might recommend getting tickets to the fan zone, especially on practice days. It's really cool to be standing up on the roof of the garage when the cars are going in/out.

I just got a call from a guy that moved into my old house, seems like my Daytona tickets just got sent there by UPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They are on the way here by cab as we speak!!!!

I have five on the infield, in the red zone, these back onto Lake Lloyd premium area.
