I have site 495 and 496 in the Red Specialty Vehicle area and am curious as to where the sites are located. Does anyone have a site map with the numbers indicated (if one exists)?

Thanks in advance.

Pete

Thanks for the map. It appears that I am in the first row towards the main grandstand butting up to the "general admission specialty vehicle" area. Could anyone let me know what is usually in this area during the 500? I am curious.

Thanks,
Pete

This is great stuff! Does anyone have a map for the yellow infield parking area by chance? I'm in #621.

If you don't have a toad, is there a way via public transporation to get to New Symrna Speedway from DIS?

Not sure of any Public transport to NSS from DIS, however there most likely will be folks camping that might be going down there for a nites worth of racin, what nite are you thinkin of heading down there? I'll be camping in West Lot outside of Turns 1 and 2, we might head down there one nite or manybe to Volusia County Speedway too!!!

Hey Mr Camping maybe as things get closer maybe we could look at planning some sort of get together on Wed or Thurs nite outside of the speedway, heck maybe we could see about renting a "party bus" and a bunch of us all go to New Smyra or Volusia County Speedway for some grass roots racing!! That would be a blast.

I know exactly where that spot is, its almost on the corner of the alley road that leads to the viewing area for turn 2, there usually is a huge kenworth type rig that parks right where you are, I will post the map link and also on google for you. You are right near the bathrooms also:D

This is right on the main drag

I will let you in on another little secret, RIGHT where your spot is, if you look down towards turn 2 you will see spot number 1. Right there is a great area to watch the cars come out of turn 2.

It is very quite there right up to the race on Sunday, not many people know about that viewing area.........well maybe they do now......

This is also the " on-ramp" for all the safety crews that work the back stretch so you get to see up and close what happens with them.

Also, where your spot is, if you want to go for a nice little walk ( 1 mile each way) the entrance to the west end of lake lloyd boardwalk is directly across from where you camp, so that is really close and very nice access for you:smile:

Check out this link for Volusia County Speedway, its in Barberville not that far from DIS.

The 2008 Dirt Car Nationals will be going on there during Speedweeks. New Smyra doesn't have anything posted on their website yet for 2008

After I posted, I went to the DIS website and found the info for the yellow camping. It appears I'm a little ways back from the track but near the restrooms. I hope the wind blows in the right direction!

As for NSS, I'm sure we'll be up for any night heading to the track. My buddies and I are used to the Brickyard bit of staying at the track all day, then heading to IRP for the night races EVERY SINGLE NIGHT.

Thanks for the quick responses!

Hi
I believe you were at RV.net in a post called "Florida in Feb 2008". I am "Ron44" at RV.net. This will be my first time at Daytona as well. I am up for all of us from this forum to meet up at Daytona. What do you think?

Yes, Ron48, I am the same person that posted on RV.net. Just trying to educate myself prior to making the trek to Daytona. I am all about getting together down at DIS during Speedweek. Name the time and place (site) and we'll be there (sometime on Tuesday after we get there). For that matter, we could meet sometime at my rig and let those that are experienced critique the newbie and have a chilly pop.

The info on this site has been great especially for a first timer to the Speedway.

Another question, I would assume the restrooms in the infield also has showers in them, i.e. like the one in the picture of the yellow area where I'm located?

Yes to the showers, I have actual pictures of that shower area where you are located:D

This was just redone 3 years ago, and is nicely done.

But I warn you get there early in the morning, and in the last few days things can go south in the conditions:mad:
