Just got back from a great weekend at Bristol. Much better than the last two spring races! WoW, what awsome weather for camping.
This time I walked around the entire track looking at the different campgrounds that are appealing to me (ie short walk to track with fewest hill climbs). How can you beat Earhart or All American with full hookups? Can someone explain to me what does Medallion offer for $1,200 that you can't get from one of the others? Can I get a golf cart pass to help make the 1 mile walk as it is not exactly close to anything?? I usually seek the most expensive sites because the stellar advantages (like at Atlanta - Club One) but where's the advantage of Medallion? Please fill me in.
Thanks,
Scott DeLano

Scott, I have 2 spots in Medallion, and also 2 spots in Atlanta across from Turn 1 in the new Terrace View.
But with Bristol, I could not make it this year so I dont have any first hand knowledge of that.
But a couple of our members will send in a report later I am hoping that where there.
Medallion is gated and secured, but then again I am thinking the others are also.....?
I had one member whom said there where a lot of empty campsites this year, what was your take on it?

Those Turn 1 spots in Atlanta are the bomb. Worth the premium.
Medallion??? I don't know. I you want to be secluded or not "bothered" by other campers, then it looks like that could be the place for you. I think their idea of security is a fence with a dude checking for IDs, exclusivity, I guess. But for the most part security is not a determining factor for me. The best security you can have a race can be had with a few beers and a handshake with the neighbors. We always look out for each other!
As for my take on this weekend, I noticed there were several empty sites. But look at the last two spring races. 30-35* with rain/snow, that can discourage the hardiest souls. Watch next year, the spring race will be bigger than the fall. (WHAT DID HE JUST SAY?)
Yeah, Bristol of yester years is gone, where bumping a banging on every lap was expected, especially in the fall race. Something I noticed over the last two years in the fall race. Everyone was "scared" of wrecking someone else because it was sooo close to the chase. Bristol fall race has become a wildcard for the race teams. Survivability is the name of the game. How many times did you hear last year, "We just hope to get out of Bristol without getting hurt!" in a reference to the points race.
The fall race will not be the same. Just my .02.

Scott, Spring race bigger
Maybe people will now come back, once they saw the boys getting a tan in the stands no shirts and a few pops :D
Its the driving in the snow that gets me, I have done that leaving Canada, no fun at all
One of our members here has a 07 Country Coach I think, I will let you know.
Security to me is only an issue if I got the girls ( little ones) with me, but so far we have not had a problem either.

Scott, Spring race bigger
might be a stretch. IMHO, the fall race has not been as fun over the last couple of years. I hope it changes.
I agree about the kids and the importance of security.
{I'll start another thread}

I had to bring my comments back up from the spring race. I still think the spring race will be a better race in the future. After watching the racing this weekend on the new track, the spring race will be awsome. The track is so much better than before. Side by side racing everywhere. It was kinda hard to keep up with all the action.
I still think the fall race has become a "survival" race. They might have well been racing open-wheel cars at bristol. No bumping at all. Over 2,000 passes and how many cars where banged up? I'm not looking for the crash, just the bumpin and bangin that makes short track so exciting.
The COT is a stout car. It's designed to take a beating. Hey #9, you don't like Mikey racing you? Use the bumper. It ain't made of glass. The car can take, can you?
I think the spring race will be great, especially if they bring a softer tire. They won't be scared to use the car to lean on others. Can't wait!!!

Hi all!
Here's the scoop --- as I see it --- on the campgrounds...
Medallion is paved -- could be a plus or minus. As a minus - At 97 degrees temps outside the asphalt just radiates the heat back up at you! As a plus - it's very level. :)
The cost is a little higher than Pole Position - I see the biggest bonus to be the shuttle service to the track. If you are going to a Suite, the last thing you want to do is walk to the track in very high temps and humidity. Ask me - that's what I had to do last week! We stayed at Pole Position - Thanks to finding this site a few weeks ago and buying one of the extra spots...
while we cut thru the Medallion area to get to the track....we could see that there were many spots with no campers.... although sold out, some folks apparently didn't attend the races....
We saw most of the campers there taking golf carts to get to the track. Most of these golf carts weren't their own... not sure how they set it up, but a far better way to get to the track than hoofing it.
Medallion is "gated" - but several others are also. We have stayed at 5 or 6 different campgrounds -- all seem very safe, and all were monitored by security. Our favorite spot is Race Day Centre - it is the closest for access to the track and has full hookups that we prefer. Most spots are large enough for "todays" rigs - with the slide outs and all. The 20 x 40 size spots are too tight for our set up. We were "hanging" out into the aisle last week - our 20 x 40 at pole position wasn't even 40'!! (it was 38') Lucky for us we were on an aisle that had a dead end and not much thru traffic.
I hope this helps you!

I have 2 spots in H on the Drag strip, up on top of the hill. We like it because it is LEVEL and we carry a scotter to get around on. This year on Wed and Fri night we were allowed to cross the little bridge and the wife dropped us off half way up the road around the track, made our walk about 100 yards to the gate 2 where our seat are. Had to walk back but not too bad. It was HOT-HOT-HOT.
The Bush Race was one of the best races I have seen in many years.
Cup race was ok but not as close as the Bush.
