I've read alot about flooding at some of the campgrounds around Bristol. Can anyone tell me which ones to stay away from? Any recomendations? Our trailer is 35' would like to use slides & awning. We are going to the August race 2008, our seats are on back stretch.

I have always stayed at Bristol campground. I have never been there when it has been wet. ( I decided to sell my tickets those years ) I like it there resverations are on the honor system are there are a fair amount of hills so if you get to the top of one you should be in good shape and the tram that runs to the track comes through the camp ground so you don't have to walk very far no matter where u are at. Have fun

Try Farmer Bobs, seems like a lot of members like it. We are on the Drag strip so I can't tell you much. Try the Bristol Website they have a section on camping with lots of details.
Good luck.

We stay at Earhartcampground (http://www.earhartcampground.com) in the spring.
No reservations are needed. We have stayed there for three years now, never any problems.

Dry? I have been to races there where the weather was picture perfect, and been to races that is snowed and rained pretty much all weekend...

Flat? I think Dover is flat....not bristol.
Just bring some 2X8 planks or lynx levelers.

Thanks for the info. Anyone know how long a walk back to Bristol Campground or Farmer Bob's after race? Are the hills manageable? My past experience is the shuttle bus works great for getting to the race but we usually walk back afterwards.

Stewartfan, How much room do they give you? Their website lists site size as approx. 18'x40'. My camper is about 20'x35' with slides and awning.

We stayed in Pole Position in August this past year and it was flat, high, and dry. Mr Camping has spots there and they have hookups too which is nice. I would recommend walking back b/c there is so many people in the roads that the shuttles cant run effeciently anyway. It is uphill to Farmer Bobs from the track, as are most of the campgrounds, but its managable.

They will accommodate any size camper. There are many RV's there with triple slides and awnings. Here is a picture (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21000175@N02/2047484174/in/set-72157603235124034/) of our awning area. The trick is to swing a little wide when they direct you in.
Very nice people. Pump truck, fresh water truck and Ice drive by during the day. Newspaper is delivered to your campsite daily.
Another note: There are many fresh water faucets around the camper area. If you are close enough, many of the people will put their hoses together to fill up the fresh tanks on the campers.

I know I have sent you some pictures already. Check to see if you can go to my Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/21000175@N02/) page and download them from there? Try a right click on the picture.

Let me know if this works.
