Anyone here familiar with Speedway Sports Park, the private campground right next to NHIS?

We've been camping at NHIS for years now, and the parking dorks there that position you in the campground are clueless, and its time to move outta there.

Doing a web search, I came up with just about nothing about Speedway Sports Park, so if you have any info on it, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks

It cost around $250 per race to park at Speedway Sportspark. They have a dumping station. Water & elec. on each site and the RV spacing is adequate

I thought I had their phone number for the park but cannot find it, will continue to look and keep you posted.

NHIS is aware they have an RV parking issue; when you have an issue with the kids parking you ask to speak with their supervisor.

At last falls race NHIS had staff taking detailed measurements of all RV and the RV spacing mid week. We ask what they were doing but they would not say much.

UPDATE
Found the number and thought I would post if for others to reference;
Speedway Sportspark Inc

Hey Fundy, thanks for the info, after some seraching I did come up with a phone number, I'll give them a call for info soon.

When you go to NHIS what lot do you park in? We're in L lot (first lot on the left as you enter the track from the south gate). We like it cause its pretty level. Do you have any perferred lot?

thanks again

Hi madfinnhockey, we have stayed in L lot for the last 5 years and prior to that we stayed in V lot, usually arrive on the Monday prior to the start of the race, so we are some distance from the track.
We too like L lot as it is level for the most part and somewhat quieter than some of the other lots.

In the past we would attend both races but for the last few years will have only gone to the fall race, as the fall race the weather is cooler and the RV lots are not as busy.

Oh, I agree with you on it being cooler at the Sept race! We've done the July race for 6-7 years and Sept for the last 2 years. 2/3 of our group was going to give up their July tix just because of the heat, but they are giving it one more shot this year. Sept is a different crowd too, calmer.

And, every year (for July) we leave a little early to get to the track to drop off the rigs, and every year we end up a little further from the track. It must be a zoo there early Sat morning.

We head up the weekend before the race, setup, then come back home (just an hr from the track) then up again on Wed or Thu.

I see where NHIS still states the following on thier web site;

"Spaces will be 18' wide and one tow vehicle, awning and slide outs must fit into this space."

RV=8' + 3'slide =11', with 7' let to park your TV and then try and get out the TV doors, oops now how do I open the door of the fifth wheel?

All said and done still love the Campers at NHIS, one big happy family  You are the best.

I have to say I've had a few neighbors @ NHIS that I'd rather not camp next to again.. maybe for this years races we can get a bunch of us Nascar Camping folks together and camp together, so we'll be sure to have good neighbors all around!

It sure would be nice if they softened up a bit on the parking though. From what I've read here about other tracks, NHIS seems to have the smallest lots. I've already sent in my money for both 2007 races (and camping, L Lot), but in July I think I'll head over to the other place just to see first hand what its like. B

But for now I have 6 inches of snow on my camper, so its not moving for a while!

I wonder if lest say there is 2 rigs travelling together, and they bought 3 spots.

When we are going in, we tell them we have 3 spots, and we want to use the extra spot as another 8 feet to share between the 2 of them...

See what I am getting at?

It might work, this would get a lot of extra legroom for everyone.

Would be interesting to see what they say...

If you don’t pull into the parking lot together they will not allow you to save a spot for another RV. We are packed in, trust us on this one.
Now at the speedway park you do have a lot more room, but at NHIS RV area things are tight.

Madfinnhockey, since we moved to L lot we have always had good neighbors.

Last July 2 campers pulled in not far behind us, and they had actually purchased a 3rd spot (they had the stickers, etc, to prove it), and they wanted to put that 3rd, empty spot between their campers so they could have a nice area in which to setup and relax. But, the parking dudes said no, you can't do that, and a loud argument followed, and the campers lost that part of the battle. They were told to go to track services to see if they could get a refund, but I don't know if that happened.

Fundy, I'm in Lot L also, so depending on when you head down there we could all meet up and group up. We have 4 campers total (about 22 of us) in our group and we range from teenagers to in our 50s. We head up the weekend before, setup, then head home (only an hour away, south of the track) and return around Thursday. My son started working security there (nights) during race week, and crashes in the camper during the day, so we always have someone around watching (although we've never had a problem).

Madfinnhockey for the fall race we arrive on Monday or Tuesday, we travel with others and meet in Portland then travel to the track.

Getting togeather some evening might be a good idea, maybe we should create a new topic late summer on this and invite others that have joined this fourm :?:

Guys, There is no Lot L on NHIS website, is it because they are sold out, or did they re-name it?

I am thinking on starting my summer trip at NHIS, and then do 7 races after this for the summer months.

Nascarcamping go to the link below to see a map of NHIS

http://www.nhis.com/documents/guest_parking_map.pdf

The line on the map between L lot and V lot is a steep hill. If you want space in L lot you might try contacting the track.
