Where and when to meet at Daytona 500

Some members have discussed possibly meeting up at the 50th Daytona 500. Please vote above. If you have another suggestion as you vote, please post it here. The sooner we figure out where to meet, the better chances more members can plan to be there.

Ok , have we decided where and when to meet??? I see only 5 total have voted on the poll with 3 of us voting for the fanzone. Just bought my wristbands today. look forward to meeting all of you. FLY THEM FLAGS !!!!

We are going ... but we didn't get tickets to the fanzone. We will, however, be in the infield in the newly reserved West Horseshoe area. :) - Gina

I think we need to rule out meeting at the fan zone. Due to not all of us will have tickets for the Fan Zone.
Lets pick another place to meet.
Maybe another infield spot??? Where we all will have access to.

Not all of us are camped in the infield either, some are out in the west lot or offsite all together. So if ya'll that are camped in the infield want to meet there then fine, just know that alot of us members won't be able to attend either because they are parked outside in Westlot, or offsite at other camp grounds and don't have infield passes. Thought your super infield included the fan zone, am I wrong?. Why not just pick up a fan zone pass for Thursday only? Or else back to meeting Wed Nite somehwre outside of the speedway so ALL members can attend.

No, the super infield does not include the fan zone. I agree with you Buddlite ... not everyone may be able to attend due to logistics. We'll keep our eyes open to see if we can catch up with everyone. :shock:

If we are going to do this, we have to make it where all can attend.

I completely understand if you schedule the meet before I get there.

Hooters, yes right across the street, if the weather is good you can even sit outside.

Now the other place on the infield that does not cost to get in is the Boardwalk Dock area, that is free, but you would still need a ticket I guess to get in the infield.

Lots going on at Hooters, drivers, teams, you never know who you are going to meet.

This will be our first infield experience. We are in #0404 of the west horseshoe. I'm not sure what the view will be like ... I'm thinking with the banking, we should at least be able to see turns 1 & 2 ... I could be wrong though. - Gina

My 2 cents says if we do Hooters we should do it Wed nite. However should be after the end of Rock and Race fest (maybe around 10 pm or so) which will be going on in downtown (not beachside) on beach Blvd between the main St Bridge and broadway bridge. Its fun

Hooters is really right across the street from the track, not a bad walk. Really not many other places around there I would recommend other than good old Hoots!!! :shock:
I know on Thurs I will be in the Fan Zone soon as it opens, is really best time to do the Fan Zone. Sure Mr Camping would agree. So if you do Hooters on Thursday am I won't be there. I still would think Fan Zone, why don't we see how voting goes and make a decision on Feb 1st? That should give everyone a chance to vote whos going to vote.

Funny story here folks, a few years back my buddy had never been to a Hooters, man did he have a ball he got his picture taken with every girl:mrgreen:

why can't you do a meet up at both places? Those that can't go to infield can meet and greet with those that can, and those on the infield that want to can meet again or just go to the one. It sounds like there are going to be quite a few of you there so why can't you do both?

Wish I could meet up with yall, but I sometimes don't know I'm going to the race until the last moment. (cool thing about living only 3 hrs away). Last time I went to Daytona I did not find out I was going until 3:00 the day before. I did have a guy ask me if I want to camp in the infield with him, but I'm sure there are strings attached that I don't want.

Thurs 10 am Fan Zone @ the Bistro.
We probably wll be unable to meet on Wed. as we have banquet tickets for the Living Legends of Auto Racing. Maybe we can come late??

Far as the Hooters meet how about 9pm Wed nite??? or is that too late for folks?? Race Rock fest has some country Guy named Mark Willis in concert from 9:15 till 10:30 pm. I can miss that, country is fine but no need to see that guy. Driver appearances run thru 8:30 pm and would like to be around there for that. Then I'm thinking off to Hooters drinking beer and eating wings with my camp buddies!!! Everyones thought?

Hooters at 9pm on Wednesday works for us. We will be the ones in the Jr. gear (ha-ha). :cool:

I will try to reserve something but usually that doesn't happen during speedweeks. I do however have some friends at the St Pete Hooters, maybe they can get something set up for me. I'll keep everyone posted. Addl FYI I have invited some people from Fox TV to our Hooters get together. They want to meet some of us, and they will be in Daytona for a few days so don't be surprised if I have a news crew show up at your campsites!!!!:p.
