we stayed at Northwoods last year. If you are looking for a night scene, its not there. What you want to do is walk back behind all the vendor tents to the campground back there.....all i can say is WOW! there were a million people walking around.

Had a tour from the "KING" Walt Michael himself. Great guy, actually all of his staff were really nice. :D Walt actually took the time out of his busy schedule to drive us around the infield and show my boyfriend and I the RV's he had for rent, or the spaces that we could rent if we went ahead and bought an RV for the race in June of 2008. So we came home, him'd and haw'd about buying and decided to book with him in turn 2 and rent one of his trailers before we decide to make the huge purchase of an RV.
Always stayed at a little motel down the road in Sommerset. Looking forward to meeting friends in Walt Michaels RV Campground.

- I just renewed for '08.
- 5th year in the M50...right on the fence that backs onto the road into the infield.
- Over by the store.
- Good little spot, night life usually shuts 'er down by 1 or 2ish.
- Easy in and out as well.

Has anyone heard anything about camping at Walt Michaels Turn 2 Retreat? MIS
We have a deposit on file with the folks from RV Envy and I just heard that they went out of business.
Not sure what this means for our race weekend in June and the trailer we rented.

I got a message on Facebook from a friend the other day & we've got 2 spots booked in Brookfest Acres for the June race. I've been going since '88, but this will be the 1st year RVing.

A group of us are heading out to MIS this June for the first time, coming from Canada. We camped at New Hampshire last year and loved it, so we thought we would try Michigan. We are camping in Brookfest Acres Section N sites 1&2, can anyone tell me how it is in this section. A couple of other questions.
Where is the "night life" at?, we wouldn't mind walking over and checking it out. Where can we get water for the trailers, and about how much is it? Are the pit passes worth the money? Is there a place close to pick up food and alcohol before coming in?
Any other tips or info would be great

Not sure if they have water and dump station at Brookfest Acres. Best to check the web site. Brooklyn Trails does,so I am sure they have same at Brookfest. Where are you crossing the border at? Plenty of places to stop along the way, I can tell you a few if you let me know what bridge you are using. If need be, you can always go into Brooklyn, they have everything you need and it's 5 mins from the track. The grocery store has liquor. As for the partying, Brookfest Acres is usually pretty quiet although every campground has partying to some degree. The infield is usually a madhouse as well as Juniper Hills which is a private campground right beside Brooklyn Trails.

I believe we are crossing at Sarnia at the Bluewater Bridge. I take it if your not camping in the infield you cant come in and enjoy the party then?

Yeah, you need a wristband for the infield to get in...

I see on the map to the campground they have something called 16 gang water spigot. What is this? Can you fill up your RV with these?

My friend and i have been to Mis 3 years. First year was at northwoods. second year at juniper hills in the family section on accident, and the 3rd year in section B at juniper hills. We are trying to find the rowdiest spot at MIS and heard juniper hills was the best but it seems to be pretty lame at Juniper hills with the security there. My question would be where is the most night life going to be in Juniper hills or MIS in general? any input is appreciated!

Pagey, you're in the section north of us. We're in Section S. We've visited friends in Brookfest before & after the races. Not rowdy after 8 PM. Yes there are water spouts, but may not be the easiest to get to "during" the weekend w/ a RV. I have a portable water bladder that holds 50 gallons. I'll add a minimal amount of water for the trip then fill up when I get there.

The other guys that are towing to the track say there's a party store in Saline on US 12 (just SW of Ann Arbor) that they hit every year to stock up for the weekend. Don't forget the Duty Free store in Sarnia will probably save you some money as well.

Thanks good info, we are going to hit the duty free in Sarnia, besides the infield where is a good place to wonder at night and check out the party scene?

Talking to frinds that have camped @ MIS in the past (not in the infield), security is around. If you're looking for rowdier action, I'd guess across the road from the grandstands would be your best bet.

Got back last night from the race. Had a good time and plan on being there next year. Two complaints (minor) though.
Loud generators. We had a Troy Bilt 5500W job fired up beside us & another LOUD genny 2 sites down (beside our 2nd trailer). When they were running, you couldn't hear our 3000W Honda running. I've camped around generators before, but not in as close of quarters.
The 2nd complaint is the dump site @ Brookfest. It's downhill and not sloped towards the hole. Even though my gauges showed empty when I left, they were @ 1/3 when I got home. Went to a nearby provincial park today, dumped & flushed the tanks. Both tanks are now showing empty.
My advice would be to get 1 of the septic trucks to pump you out or dump @ a facility on your way home.

We just returned from MIS. We stayed at the Graves Farm Campground which was very nice for a track campground; however, it was a good distance away from track itself. The campground offers electric as well as no-hook up sites. Several water stations, a dump station and a modern large bathhouse. Security patrolled the grounds around the clock. Once again very nice but way too far from the track. A tram service was available for the ARCA, Nationwide and Sprint Cup Races; however, the routes are average at best.
