Members Pages

[Nascarcamping]

Okay here is an idea that may knock your socks off, or not.

Those of you that use My Space would know this, but I had an idear yesterday, of making up a members page for each member that wants one.

It would be accessible off of our main site, and would have a menu bar under the forum bar titled " Members Pages"

When you click on the bar, this would take you to the main page that would list each member that has their own page.

What this would be like really is like you all having your own web site.

We would have a template that we would ask you to fill in, and then Mike and Rosie would take what you submit and post it there.

This would be like a history of yourself, pics of your rigs, tracks you visit etc...

This way it would not get lost like the posts eventually do on the forum, and you could add to your page at any time.

Obviously there would be a back log at first to get it all going, but I think this would give y'all some ownership at a higher level than the forum does presently.

What we need to figure out if you like the idea, is what the template should have on it, and then we can get a trial of it up and running.

I'd put together a page for something like that, and would be interested in having a centralized location for everyone's pics/info.

I would definitely participate, this is a great idea--maybe stuff for the "book" could be used from here as well with members' permission.

sort of, but a lot cleaner, I find that what they have like my space is very cluttered and hard to look at.............

I am in, as long as long as it is not a "my space.com" page...I won't let my kids have one, and would be hypocritical of me to have one...(they don't know about my Robby Gordon page though...hahah);)

We're in... Speaking as a relative newcomer it would be a great way to get a sense of who all the folks are. And as already mentioned it would keep "pertinent data" from getting lost as forum messages rollover.

(Now if only we hurry up and find something to tow the toyhauler with so my head could stop hurting and we can take pictures at the track with it :twisted: )

We use Ning for a social network at work for our employees. You can make it where only members can get in. It is free if you allows ads or ad free for a nominal amount. We have used it for a year and it works great. The admin can delete content or start new blogs. It makes it super easy to do youtube videos. Check it out.

you create a ning site. It would be http://nascarcamping.ning.com. You could have it off of your front page and only members can enter it. You simply send an invite to their email when they join. We use it to keep our virtual office employees up to date with whats going on at corporate. We have been very happy with it. No downtime in a year. Hope this helps.....

ahhh yes, I have rosie online in New brunswick now, she said she actually found out about ning today and was going to email me also.

I also found out that this is what infield parking uses also.

Looks like the my space app also.

In my opinion both these sites look very junky and cluttered but the software app looks like it is what we want.

if we can keep it clean up then maybe it might work.

what i dont see is pics anywhere like large ones, this is important for us, any ideas there?

There is a photo album that be seen by the entire site or you can have photos just on your page. You can also make your page look however you want. I concur that it looks a little clunky but that makes it easier for us novices to make a page look like what we want without having a graphic design background. The types of files you can use are varied and even someone who has no clue on how to do this stuff can make their page full of cool content. The only drwback is that it can be a little slow to load pages but it's hard to beat free and have a private site too. Sorry you won't be at Daytona Chris.

We will look hard and long at Ning, we most likely will buy their top of the line package, whatever that is looks promising:)

Interesting, possibly could disable certain segments of the package so we wouldn't have those cluttered pages that Infield and others do? I checked out Infield and actually signed up but the darn thing is so labor intensive that I don't bother going there much anymore. Sometimes less is more

We are going to be looking at this software closely and see what it can offer, we dont want it to look cluttered like others, so we are going to work closely with our IT gang and see.

Hey folks just wanted to give you and update, Rosie our webmistress has been working away hard and long on our new members page, we are going to make this right, so we will have something up shortly for you to look at:cool:

Further update, Rosie is making up a page, what we are going to do is get a couple of them " LIVE" and then we will start to pick away at them and fine tune them for us.

We should have something to show you within 48 hours or so....

Okay Rosie is still at the office working away, ( Rose is a trooper for sure)
She got 3 pages up for our members pages, it looks pretty neat, we are going to go over them the next day and tonight and play around with them.

We will then invite a few people to test them out, volunteers just post below.

Just remember that it is in Beta phase so who knows what will happen.....

I must admit I am impressed, and I dont impress easy.

What got me scared though was that Rosie whom is still at the office and me at home where both staring at our computers talking this thing over when Pop, Pop,...Shirley and Mellissa both popped up on our screens as new members and currently on-line:)


The pigs got a little cartoon with moving eyes that I swear watches me all the time.....

Kind of neat really, I also just invited a WHOLE BUNCH of people through my hotmail account, so it will be interesting to see who signs up from that.

For those of you signed up, you can do the same, WOW, I think we will need our own campground soon!!!:mrgreen:

Just a tip for those that dont already know, when customizing your colors on your page, if you dont like the choices available to you then you can enter a different hexadecimal code and it will give you more choices. Here is a link to show you more colors and their codes:
