I've got tickets to race fever and the race. I had no idea that Reserved camping would sell out so fast! Do I have any chance at getting one of the free spaces if I don't get there until Thursday morning, as that is probably the earliest I can get there? Any suggestions from anyone is greatly appreaciated. I'm beginning to have the sick feeling that if I can't get a camping space at one of the free spaces my weekend is probably over before I can even get there. By the way I've gone the e-bay route and that is not working out too well either.

Last year when we got there on Thursday there was still a lot of camping spots available, we came in from the west, and there is a campground on your left side coming in, that had space.

What really surprised me was that the full service campground on the corner heading into the track also had spots available.

what kind of rig do you have?

Unfortunately, no rig. Just wanting to go the old-fashioned route, meaning I planned to tent camp

Just from my experiences last year there was not a whole lot of people there on Thursday morning.

There is still enough time though to find a paid spot though, but if you get there early enough Thursday my bet is you would be okay.

We were in West Park B (free) last year. There was a good bit of "tent" area available on Thursday.

I wouldn't worry about it at all, You shouldn't have any problem whatsoever pulling in on Thursday, especially if you are tent camping! We plan on taking the MH down on Wed., and comming back down Friday night, just to ensure that we have a spot big enough. Don't give yourself anymore grey, you'll be fine!!

We got there last year in the fall, and they were letting them into the free camping lot on the South end, I think that it was the southend I was all turned around. You go around by the Allison Stands on the eastside of the track. Just dont park in the Handicap parking there! It will get towed!

Thank you to everyone for the encouragement. You can not imagine how worried I have been thinking about the possibility of not getting in. I'm starting to have a better feeling now than I did before.

Just a sidenote. We are planning on being at the campground Thursday at 7am to increase our chances of getting in. That means we are leaving at 2am on Thursday morning! Every time I think of this it seems insane to me. I wouldn't even leave this early for a football game. Then again, I guess there's no reason to camp at a football game anyway.

Take your camera, you can take before and after pics, my bet is you will be the 1st person there

Have fun, take lots of pictures and share them with us when you get back!
