Moose, no personal experience, but I have friends who raced the first event there last September with the Hooters series. I'll talk with them this week and see if they know anything.

Feel Free to ask me anything about Iowa Speedway. We have a motorhome spot overlooking turn 3 and have electric and water at our site. Dump station on the way out of the track. We were there last year as well and can vouch for the fact that this is a great facility. Thee 2007 schedule includes 11 different events including road races, IRL, Nascar Grand National, Rolex Sports cars, ASA, ARCA and Hooters Pro Cup. They also have a concert on the grounds during major weekends (I think that this year it will be Lonestar). We also have a motor home spot at Kansas as well so I can be of help there also.

Martin to drive at Iowa Speedway Sports Car race: Mark Martin will join Southard Motorsports drivers Randy Ruhlman and Shane Lewis in the Southard Motorsports #3 Preformed Line Products Lexus Riley, as they take on the new 1.3-mile, Rusty Wallace-designed road course at Iowa Speedway for Round 9 of the Grand-Am Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve. While Mark Martin is no newcomer to the world of sports cars or road racing, the Iowa event will be his first time driving in a Grand-Am Daytona Prototype car. Martin holds the distinction of being part of four GT victories at the Rolex 24 At Daytona. A track sponsored test day on Thursday, July 11, will help the teams prepare for Friday's official practice and the 5 p.m. Friday qualifying session. The 400-K race at the newly built Iowa Speedway starts at 8:00pm/ct on Friday July 13th for 192-laps or 2 1/2 hours on the 1.3-mile road course oval in Newton, Iowa, just outside of Des Moines. The race will be broadcast same-day delayed on Friday, July 13th at 10pm/et on SPEED. The No. 3 Preformed Line Products Daytona Prototype is campaigned by Southard Motorsports of Powell, Ohio. The Riley chassis is powered by Lexus engines with technical expertise by TRD Engineering and carries sponsorship from Preformed Line Products from Mayfield Village, Ohio. Martin will also run the Nextel Cup race in Chicago this weekend, driving the #01 U.S. Army Chevy for Ginn Racing

:D Is there any truth to the rumor that a Craftsman truck race will be at Iowa in 2008? That would ber super, especially if they paired it up with maybe a Hooter race on Friday night .We are looking forward to going to Iowa Speedway in the very near future. Those of you who have been there, let us know how you like the entire setup, including the camping facilities. Thanks

We have had season camping trackside on turn 3 of Iowa Speedway since they opened. The spots are 20 X 50 and have water and electricity as well. they have 11 races this year including ARCA, ASA, IRL, USAC, Rolex Sports cars (on the road course using the infield) and Motorcycles. The racing has been great. They always add a concert sometime in the weekend as well and we have seen Three Dog Night, Lonestar, Jason Brown, and a number of other acts. The highlight of the season so far has been the Indy cars. They had a complete driver autograph session and you could actually talk to the drivers etc. Cold pit passes are $15 so you can go in the infield. All in All a great place for our "Home Track"
Rumor has it that we may get the Mansfield, OH truck race over Memorial Day weekend next year to be paired with the ARCA race. We hope. The trucks have already tested their and the Entire DEI Cup teams are coming to test the week of August 21-22. Here is a link to a picture of our camping spot.
