Hi. My name is Sage. Here's my picture in case I see you around. I'm really friendly to people, but I don't like other animals too much. I'm not much into sharing the attention.

I just got back home from my first trip to the 5th wheel. It was a REALLY long ride -- about 8 hours each way. I was sort of anxious at first, but after a while I figured we weren't going to the vet, so I sort of calmed down. Now I remember what it was like to go for a long ride. It was kind of fun. I grew up riding around the US in an 18 wheeler with Carol's dad. Now I get to live with her. It's okay, but her truck isn't as big :p

I used to go to the Daytona 500 every year when Carol's dad was alive. Well, actually I had to stay in the truck across the street, but I still heard the cars... We went to lots of other Nascar races too... Darlington, Martinsville, Richmond, Rockingham back in the day... That's all I can remember right now.

Mr. Johnny wasn't too sure about me staying in the new trailer cuz I'm kind of big, so I was extra good and he said I can come back again :-P

(I can't figure out how to make my picture show up. I think I'm a pretty smart dog, but I can't seem to make it work. )

Hey - I'm Gus. This is a picture from my first NASCAR race at Bristol last spring and first camping trip. Mom and Dad haven't taken me to any races since, but we have gone on several camping trips.

Hi, my name is Tahoe. I am a reskie (rescued eskie) that just recently came to live with my mom (JG24fan) and dad (JimmieJohnson) and Nevada and Nukaq on the 6th of February 2008. I am about a year old and I will probably get to go to the Brickyard race this year if I decide that I am going to have a good recall ;)

Hi my name is Nukaq (pronounced Noo-kuh). I am 15 weeks old and am the youngest in my household. My mom and everybody else that meets me says that I am the sweetest, calmest puppy they have ever met. I guess they say that because I am OK with laying on the couch or something and observing what is going on rather than being rambunctious with Nevada and Tahoe.

I just started conformation classes (classes to be a show dog) and am doing well in that. I already know how to sit, lay down, wave, go to my bed, loose-leash walk, and am working on standing in my show stance.

I will be going to the Brickyard race this year and to the August Bristol race. (Mom wont let me go to the Spring race because Im too young).

Here is a picture of me during one of my naps :)

Hi my name is Nevada and Im the oldest in the group. I will be 2 years old June 24, 2008. I am an agility dog in training. Although I am a purebread American Eskimo Dog like my sister Nukaq, I dont like the show dog life, so I get to do more exciting fast pace things (like agility and maybe so rally or flyball). Mom says I have 2 speeds...fast and "the speed of light", although I occasionally throw in a stop, but only to catch my breath and get a drink ;)

I have been to the Brickyard and to Bristol. Although they were fun, the Bristol race was horrendously hot! Mom and dad emptied out a tote and filled it with cool water for me :) This year they said they will get me a little inflateable pool though, so it will be better. My mom has pictures of me at the track, but I dont know where she stored them, so for now I will post a picture of me going over one of my jumps. (Ill make her post a track picture later though)

Carol,

Where are you hosting your picture? I use webshots (http://www.webshots.com) but a lot of people here use photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com). I don't think you can use pics off your c: drive here in the forum without hosting them on the net.

Either of the above sites give you a code for your pic after you upload. You just copy the code for posting in a forum, then paste it in your message. You can do it yourself by using the image on the wysywig which is a yellow picture with the sun and mountains on it at the top of the message box. Or you can code it yourself like this [*img]http:webshots.&&&etc[/img*] remove the asterisks * and paste your picture site in between.

Can't wait to meet Sage!

--Well, I typed my fingers out for nothing, Sage is showing up fine and is a nice looking dog if I may say so. Appears to have some Australian shepard in him too!

Dad alway said she was half Australian Shepard and half Dingo. From what I've read that seemed to be the definition of a Australian Cattledog. Who knows...

She loves the truck. Johnny thought it was the funniest thing. All you have to do is open the door to the truck and she will sit there in the seat all day long. But leave her outside by herself with the truck closed and she'll bark her fool head off! I think loving the truck is part breeding and part upbringing :)

All our doggie members are adorable... I think Gus is like Sage in that if there's food around he's staving! And Sport's ears look to be about the same size as Sage's. I think she might've done well in agility if we'd started earlier. But at 11 we'll be happy to accomplish loose leash walking and recall:rolleyes:

ToyotaFan

Carol,

Sorry, I called Sage a "him"!

I wonder if Dingo is the same as Blue Heeler, as a heeler is also known as an Australian cattle dog? Yes, I do see alot of similarities in Sage and Sport. I can relate to Gus being hungry when there is food, I can't eat potato chips with out all the dogs sidling up and sitting pretty! (that's Anita-speak for begging) I think recall is the hardest, I don't trust Toby(the collie) off leash anywhere! If I can get him to sit still long enough for a picture I will post it!

Here is a picture of Toby I have that is not very good. This was about a month after he came to live with us. He is looking much better than when we got him, but he is still thin. He is so active, he may never be anything but thin! I said he was Border collie, but he is a border collie mix. He acts like a Border collie though!

Ellee and Maddie are very cute. Is Maddie the larger one?

Tody looks like fun. I think the energy must be the border collie part...

So Sport is 1/4 aussie shephard and 1/4 heeler --- THAT explains the ears :D

Everyone here in Texas calls Sage a blue heeler so I think that might be case. Dad taught her to do 2 things really well. She NEVER under any circumstances goes to the bathroom in the house. She can hold it FOREVER! And she's very good at "Sit Pretty." She came to live with me when she was 5 yrs old. The trainer I've worked with says that while she's incredibly smart, she has 2 things going against her.. 1) Her age and 2) She's a female -- I pretty much took that one personally. He says female dogs are more stubborn and more difficult to train. Again, trying not to take that one personnally. He also said that being so smart makes her a bit more difficult to train. She figures things out...

For example, she barks at everyone walking past the house. He said have her wear a long lead in the house and when she barks put her in time out. He said that should break the habit because she won't want to go to time out. The trainer said it's important to use the lead to put her in timeout, so she doesn't associate the punishment with me, but rather than the behaviour. Worked great for a little while, but pretty soon I noticed she only didn't bark when she had the lead on. No lead... same old barking behaviour. All that to explain why my dog is the one dragging her lead around the house all the time. I've been working on this for almost 2 years... On the other hand, she learned to shake hands in about 30 minutes. Basically she learns the things she wants to and ignores the rest.

Yes Maddie is the bigger girl, she hasn't met any food she doesn't like  a bit like her mom:oops:

Carol,

I agree, the smarter they are the harder to train. Sport is a very submissive dog, he is very smart, but trains easily. Toby has a very dominant personality and is very stubborn. I have not heard the lead thing, I was thinking about trying the shock collar on Toby as he is so very stubborn. I have found that the more adjusted he gets to being around the better he is so I hope it all works out.

Sport says HI to ellie and maddie!

Hey everyone, my name is Patches. Bet ya can't guess why! LOL, I gues it would be BOL. I am seven months old, and a little bigger than in my picture. Mommy spoils me rotten, and the boys are my bestest friends. I like to sleep on Daddy's feet at night, and some nights make him sleep out on the couch because I want to play late and stay up to watch CMT Country Music Television. My favorite movie is 8 Below, it's been on Starz all month, and I have seen it about 10 times. I am going to Louden, but Daddy said I can't go to Dover with them. :( Everyone say's that my family has got the NASCAR bug something fierce, because they even got a black and white dog, I am surprised they didn't name me checkers!

Toby looks like a pointer/ bc mix. Agility sound like a good thing for him...it will keep his mind occupied. If you want to get started in it, I would recommend contacting a local agility club or training center about classes. I also subsribe to CleanRun (http://cleanrun.com/) Magazine, which gives lots of helpful tips.
As far as Toby's stubborness, I would recommend obedience classes. Obedience is also something that should help with the possessiveness and it occupies the mind :)

Maybe someday we can get together outside of a track and let the dogs play. I have a fenced back yard so we have no fear of "Zoomies"

Hi my name is Asia and I'm a 3 yrs old Yorkie. I have been camping with my mom since I was 10 wks old, but never to a Nascar race. (something about not wanting to worry about me in the camper all day while she is at the race.) But thats O.K. I get to spend the week with my grand parents and they spoil me rotten.
I don't think I like race cars, mom got a remote control one with the 24 on it. I had fun playing with it until it started to move. Then I ran under mom's chair and barked at it real loud.

Hello everyone, My name is Sophie and I am a southern Lady at heart. I am a daddys girl and love to play and jump around and snuggle. I will be one soon but for being still a pup and a "mutt" I am already bigger than Bruce. Maybe I will see you guys at the races soon. Daddy, I want to primp and take pictures for the nice humans now..

Hi everyone, it's Nukaq again!

Ok, so my mom finally got around to posting about me in Bristol (at least she is getting a picture up). I had the greatest time with mom, dad, grandma, and sister (Nevada) at Bristol. It was my first time camping and let me tell you...this whole camping thing is GREAT!! Why haven't I done this sooner?! I got all kinds of attention, was free to run around and all the people there just wanted to take my picture and feed me great food!

Dad said that I ate better than he did there (something about me getting ribs (no bones), pork loin, flavored hot dogs, etc...). I know mom was worried at first because I had never had people food before.

All the attention was fun too :) When Nevada and I got to go over in the Merchandise trailer area (and in the Crown Royal tent), we got stopped so many times that dad got frustrated. I dont know why....people just wanted to take my picture. I even got to get up on the counter of one of the merchandise trailers and walk around up there.

I also got to meet Chad Knaus. That was fun. (well at least after the broadcast...during was really loud and eventually I just tuned it out and went to sleep in mom's arms)

Well, here is a picture of me after I had been playing in the mud and was over at the neighbor's campsite scrounging for some more of that yummy pork they gave me the night before.

I wanted to let everyone know that I recieved my Canine Good Citizenship award at just 20 weeks old! (For you Canucks, its the equivilent of the Canine Good Neighbor award).

Basically what this means, is that I am a good puppy. I dont jump on people when I meet them, I have basic obedience, and I will not bite people. For more information visit this site (http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/index.cfm).

Mom is really proud of me :D

My name is Jade and I'm a husky mix. I'm the black and white one. My sister, Pearl, and I like to hang out at the races but Mom & Dad have only taken us to Talladega. We both like to chase squirrels in the back yard. Mom won't let us chase the deer, but when she isn't looking we talk off into the woods and scare em up! I go quite a bit to a fancy vet right now because I have a booboo on my nose, but I can still chase those squirrels!

Hi to all you new doggie friends. I'm trying to think of you guys as friends even though I've never really liked other dogs much.

Last weekend while I was visiting my dad in Bay City there was this little puppy named Buddy who wanted to play with me. It wasn't too bad..... My mom and dad seemed really happy that I didn't treat him like kibble and eat him in one bite!

Mom and I are headed back down there in a few minutes. Maybe I'll try to play nice again...

At that show I won my class, my variety, best of females, best of winners, and best of breed. I also won Group I (which means I won a group first in the Northern group and made it to Best in Show). I was just 6.5 months old.
Now I am only 8 points away from my Championship in UKC (there are 100 points needed). After I finish my Championship, I start working towards my Grand Championship. I also start showing in the AKC in August.
