On another forum that I frequent, a number of people (myself included) were upset with Fox's coverage of the race. I was curious how you all felt about it? My biggest complaint is the end of the race when Stewart and Newman were battling it out and they went to a split screen with the race in the smaller frame and Stewart's bumper cam in the larger frame.

Here is an interesting breakdown of the coverage:

Minutes of race broadcast: 166
Minutes of commercials: 52

You know that was the BIG topic at the 500 party I went to...ALL the dang commercials. TOO many!! One of our group looked like he was going to have a melt down the closer it got to the end of the race and the more frequent the commercials became. I don't know about the rest of you, but I could care less to see cars running around at pace speed...show the commercials then.

I am glad it is back on Fox...as The ESPN crew tend to put me in a coma. I just hope this commerical 500 is only because it was the Daytona 500. When you think about it...the whole dang race is a commercial with all of those sponsor cars!!

Totally agree with you. When they are running pace speed, I'd rather watch commercials than listen about what Dale Jr. ate for lunch last Tuesday.

I do like the Fox announcers/analysts better than ESPNs, but I was just very upset about the coverage. If I would have seen that gopher get scared and dive in his hole one more time, my flat panel was going out the window!

Well, I didn't pay that close of attention, but I don't remember hearing DW screaming Boogity, Boogity! That always made me want to barf!

During the race season I have resorted to having two tv's in the living room. When the race goes to commercial directv hot pass still has a live feed so I have both tv's on. When the race has a caution during commercial I get to see it, it amazes me how long after the caution comes out it takes regular tv to come back from commercial.

I agree... I love hotpass, you never miss any of the race. Plus the addition of the in car audio for 15 cars plus the 4 featured cars makes it a must. I don't set up 2 tvs just use the last channel button.

I get annoyed with all of the commercials. But with Directv, that is no longer an issue... except for the audio of the commercials.

As long as I dont have to listen to Rusty say " dirty air, or aero loose" I can live with it....

Rusty saying "he holds a pretty wheel" is like finger nails on a chalk board for me.

I guess I just tune Rusty out, because I don't remember any of that. I didn't even know Rusty was commentating during the actual race. I see him on the pre race shows, but that was it.

This is all from Rusty's comments last season

Maybe you're just blocking out the bad memories of hearing him doing the races.

LOL...Very possible as I have never been a Rusty fan anyway.
