Trouble in Talladega? (UPDATE)

Well, my fears were definitely unfounded, which made you guys rights about us having no trouble getting into the free camping area at the Talladega campground. We arrived at the campgrounds around 10am on Thursday and had no trouble going right in. Although, we certainly were not the first ones there we practically had our pick of where we wanted to camp. We decided to camp near the creek that runs through the campground, which turned out to be a great idea, since it was clean water and it allowed us to use that as a source of water to wash our dishes and ourselves. No, we didn't bathe in the creek, we filled our milk jugs up with the water and ran it over ourselves at our campsite. Because we got to the campground so early, we had plenty of time to unpack our stuff, take a nap, and then sightsee before dinner. We stayed from Thursday morning to Monday morning and had a fabulous time (except for the Sunday finish). If you've never camped at Talladega, then you are missing out. Everyone should experience camping at Talladega. I've got plenty of interesting pictures documenting our NASCAR weekend.

Get those pictures up. Alot of us went to texas and if you have read the "Camping at Texas" post you can tell we like pictures!!!! Can't wait to view them. Nice to hear you had a great time. And I too wasn't real impressed with the finish...lol!

I hope you got some pictures of you guys washing in the creek, that reminds me of my army days and when I used to camp on/with my motorbike :shock:

You can also post them here also, it might take you a few tries to get it right, but shirley knows her stuff and others they can pitch in and help if needed :D

Just to let you know we didn't actually bathe in the creek because the water was so nice that I didn't want to see people start bathing and polluting it. So I just used it to fill up water jugs and pour the water on us at our campsite.

It was a perfect 4 days as far as the weather went. Too much smoke on Friday and Sat nights for me. The Bush race was one of the best races this year. Good for Bobby Labonte and Tony "Smoke".
Sunday was ok-not great- Not a Gordon fan, but he did have the best car there.
