You can't get you local channels on the road? How does directv know where you are unless you connect you box to a phone line. I wish I knew more.

It goes by your acces card thats how it knows your locals the best thing to do is order the east and west coast locals you have to call direct tv and ask to put in a waiver for the east and west coast locals 29fox 3cbs 10nbc 6abc its an extra $3 you will recieve them any where if not and your out of your local area you will not recive 3 6 10 29 fox cbs abc nbc cbs channels our when it is on fox use your camper anntenna. Hope this helps you.

If you Mirror your box, meaning you take a box out of the house, use an extra box, and you pay the same for that extra box...I think 5.00. It will not work out of your own home area. Meaning I get local channels from Birmingham Al, but when in Flordia I could not get them BUT here is the only way that you can. You will have to suscribe for a totally new service from Direct, send in the waver as stated above, then request either East coast or West coast feed. When you order that package make sure you pick the one that includes speed. I think it will be about 50.00 per month. OR do what I do, when I cant get the local channels thru direct I raise the crank antena up. Just cheep like that.

I thought I had heard that Direct Dish had gone to some packet delivery and you had to be in a certain "footprint" to get them.

Yep, Only the Cup Race's!!! But I think that most of the Nationwide races are on ESPN2. That should be on the package side of DirectV. The truck is on the Speed and that is on the package side of DirectV.

You get just the cup 5 in car drivers where all they do is follow that driver and now they offer the local race broadcast to as if you where watching it on fox or espn or abc what ever station is carrying it
