I read the manuals /did a search and none seemed to address this problem exactly, I still need some help. I have a 2004 Bounder 38N with a 50 amp Smart Energy Management system Model 900 also a Xantrex Freedom 459 Series Inverter/Charger- 4 Trojan 105 always keep full of water and charged. Here is problem; this past weekend while dry camping (no hookups) inverter working just fine- running the generator in the morning and at night to charge the batteries. Using the inverter to watch TV/DVD player/microwave when needed. On the 4th night I turn the generator off after 2 or 3 hours and the inverter did not come on. I pushed the on button on the remote panel and all I got was the on button on the DVD player and the coffee maker on button BLINKING on and off and no power. Cranked the generator up and everything came back on- turned the generator off and back to blinking. I went outside and looked at the front panel of the inverter and went through the troubleshooting led status in the manual and this says it is operating normal. I went to the distribution panel(breaker box) and all the breakers are set. NOW at home- I hooked up to my 50 Amp box and everything is working great. Battery’s are still fully charged –over 13.50. So the charger part is working. Unplugged the shore power and reset the inverter and still only BLINKING again. The led status lights on the inverter show it working fine, still now power out of inverter.
Is it broken or is there something I am missing?

Thanks for your help.

the only thing i can suggest is to reset the inverter to do this you will need to take the positive lead off the inverter wait 5 min to discharge there should be no lights blinking or solid reconnect positive to inverter and see if it works normally
if the light is still blinking when in invert mode the inverter thinks its still hooked to power that light should be solid when in invert mode.
the older model inverter had a relay that switchs from invert to charge modes if all else fails give the top of the box a frim love tap the relay may just be stuck.
if after all that and it still acts the same way then you may be looking into getting a new inverter

Thanks, I will try that this weekend. On the front of the inverter(not hooked to shore power nor on the Gen)/looking at the status lights the inverter light is solid green and the charger light is blinking. The manual said that was normal -inverting power and waiting for power to charge the batteries. I did not have enough confidence to remove the small access panel on the front of the inverter and check the voltage output directly from the wires conections.
Something else strange is happening- When I hooked up the shore power cable to my 50 amp receptical(at home so I know it is right) the EMS system is only showing 30 Amps not 50? I am using a portable SurGuard surge protector. It shows both lines green. In the coach at the main breaker panel the main breaker are ok and set.

Thanks,
Rick C

the EMS needs to see 110 volts on both legs in the breaker panal on the circuits the EMS is controlling you may need to pull the breaker panal cover off and verify 110 on the EMS relay points if one is dead then the EMS thinks its hooked to a 30amp service

This sounds a little like what we experienced, a few weeks ago. Our inverter fuse was blown.

Good luck! Let us know what you find out.

if the fuse was blown for the invertor the charge part won`t work either so with your invertor charging the batts the fuse is fine it still sounds like the invertor is locked up and needs a hard reset the only way to do that is to disconnect battery and shore power for at least 5 min then reconnect battery and see if it inverts first before hooking shore power back

Sorry this is so late in replying. The inverter part of the system was out. They didn't say what was wrong but it was replaced under warranty so all I had to pay for was the installation and went ahead and replaced the batteries and several new battery cables.
I was also told it is a good practice to use the inverter as the last resort, to use the gen set as much of the time as possible. Which is just he oppsite of what I usually do, I run the inverter all the time and only use the gen set when the batteries need charging.

PS. I hate it when someone ask for help and never posts the ending. So I am sorry it took so long.

keep on using your invertor the way you are that is the best way so the invertor gets use and the batteries go thru a proper discharge and charge cycle
