.....Let me explain....Have you ever searched the internet for information on caping equipement or a particular list of stuff required when camping? Remember your first outings and the stuff you forgot.......

Or looking for a great camping spot in a particular province, state or town....Well......



Here we go, how about if we as board members all get together and start the world's first Camping Wiki.....Let's say www.WikiCamping.com or we could do it here but that would kinda be counter productive and not a true "Wiki".

We've all had different rigs, weather it's a pop tend, a pull camper, a fifth wheel or and full blown Class A, I'm pretty sure that all of us could write some stuff and we could put it all together and start the firt Wiki camping.


Of course, if it is decided to start this on it own site we would be directly associated and linked to the core!! LOL!


What do you think people, is this a good idea? Lots of work involved here but I'm sure we can pull this off and get it started in the right direction, then we release it to the world and let them take it over!

Guess I am confused?? What is a Wiki? Are you just wanting this site to come up first in a google search?? Cause if you put in nascar camping in a google search we come up first...

Wiki-pediais a free online encyclopedia, that is maintained by the users.

Sorry....Yeah....A Wikipedia of Camping an encyclopedia for camping.

Here is some sort of scenario:

A user searches for 5th wheels because he has no clue witch one to buy, he goes to Wikicamping and types in 5th wheel and it would come up with a list of them, then the user could look at each one (that is on wikicamping at the time) and see any info imputted by users of that particular model.

Same would go for tricks and tips on how to pack your pop trailer form the road or steps on how to set up in different camp ground conditions or even how to save fuels when traveling........

Sure it's outside the box but Wikipedia is now mainstream and a Wikicamping would catch on real quick I think.

Well, run it past Mr. Camping, perhaps he can add a thread for that here...I don't want to skew too far off the nascarcamping thing...let's pump up this place, instead of giving it competition. ;)

Just wondering if we'd be competing with a few other sites out there that do exactly that. As the owner of a hybrid camper, I go right to the woodalls hybrid group, where many others have units similar to mine. They also have one for popups, 5th wheelers, tenters, the whole 9 yards.

But what you don't find there is the expertise that we have on the nascar camping experience.

I agree that there are many other "generic" sites out there. RV.net being the most prominent. The one thing that RV.net refused to do was make a section on Nascar camping, even though there are MANY members who are Nascar fans. I think this is one of the areas that we really fill a niche that others haven't/won't.

FWIW and my 2 cents :mrgreen: I belong to a Cardinal Camper group, and we have tried to set up sections for campground reviews etc. The reality is, that without membership of many thousands, the information can never really compete with those sites out there that dedicate themselves to doing that. Hopefully as we evolve here, we can be THAT site for Nascar camping, the one that is dedicated to ONE thing - excels at it, and everyone goes there because they know its the place to go! :-D

Hmmmm wonder why I started this place?

I did not know that they officially did that, but I had some issues with that place so that is one of the big reasons why I started this place.

RV net is a great place I still contribute to it, but I thought it was time for us to have our own campsite:)

As far as I know that is still true. I have to admit I haven't visited there in a while. About 2 years ago (maybe) there was some lobbying over there to start a Nascar section, but RV net refused. My understanding was that they felt that there were many other similar sections that could apply and that they couldn't cater to them all. Probably true - no knocking them - but regardless, there's obviously several people over there that need to be directed over here!!

RV net is great I just didnt like a few people that kept getting out of hand it got tiring.......
