Help. my motor home is a 1991 cobra, the converter is a magnetek model 6345 45 amps. So here is what happened... Back at Talladega fall race 2007. I was using the generator, the until went dead.... jumped it off and then the generator worked for a while... went and got a new battery, the motor home battery not the 12 volt battery. That night I ran the motor home engine all night as well as the generator no problems. Called a tech said the cheap way to fix problem was buy a battery charger, plug in and while I was running the generator it would keep the battery charged. Did that. About 2 weeks ago went to the Smokies. 1 hour away we decided to run generator for extra Air COndition etc... While the engine was running I noticed that the dash volt meter was going down,,, fast! In less than 45 mins I was down from 12.5 volts to under 6 volts (according to the dash (engine). As soon as I turned off the generator,,,, the dash (engine) volt gage went right back up... What the heck is going on... Camping world wants to sell me new converter / charger.... If you need to call me number is 256-305-9524 Thanks for your help in advance:confused:

if the volt gauge is going down when the engine is running thats telling me that when the relay kicks in to charge all your batteries you may have a defective house battery the easist way to check is to take the house battery out of the loop just disconnect the positve post and see if the volt gauge goes back to normal if so then check that battery it may be internally shot and also check the wiring that nothing is shorted or miss wired
the battery charger is a cheap way to keep the house battery charged until you get a new convertor just watch the water level in the battery
