View Full Version : Power Awning Issue

We just picked up the Fuzion after having some warranty work done. In addition to the little repairs we had them add a 2nd switch for the electric awning. Put it out and in just fine. Put it out when we got the the campsite. No problem. Hit the switch to pull it in for the night and nothing...
Figured out that it's blowing a 30 amp in-line fuse. Problem is the awning is stuck out about 275 miles away from the place that added the switch! Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot and find the issue? It doesn't seem to be a binding problem. The fuse blows as soon as I hit the switch.

I've never even seen a power awning, but I'm wondering if, since the fuse blows as soon as you hit the switch, if theres a short to ground somewhere. Grab an ohm meter and do some testing to see if any of the power wires have shorted out.

Will check that out this weekend. Have to get it sorted soon or else we won't be able to get it out of the campsite to head to Daytona!

Should have a manual overide i would think just like slideouts in case you lose power you can hand crank them or jump it off your truck battery

Of course the documentation on this sucks... Haven't been able to locate a manual override. It would make sense that there is one, but we can't find it...
I just picked up an air card for the computer so hopefully will be able to access internet from the tailer. That way I can bug ya'll for more help if we can't figure it out!

if the awning is a carefree there are two rivets on the motor housing that can be used to run the awning in or out just use two wires and a cordless drill battery or jumper cables to a battery just remember to unplug the awning from its power source
if its an AandE awning the motor connector is just inside the outer arm at the top just unplug and do the same thing with wire and a battery
if the motor is the issue and won`t go with battery power then the only way to get it back in is to unhook the motor end from the tube and hand wind the awning in and put the motor back onto the tube to hold it in place until it can be repaired
