Laidback Racing has this info.

CAMPING NEAR RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY

Speedway is located at the fairgrounds. It is surrounded by both commercial & residential property.

This means there are Pop Odom's around the track who will park or camp you in there yard for a fee. It is first come first serve as far as I can tell. Always ask if they do take reservations before you leave if you will be back to Richmond in the fall because we have a reserved spot in Charlotte even though it is 1st come 1st serve. We've been camping in the same yard for years now.

UPDATE FROM US: If you do not mind paying, park on a lawn in the neighborhood outside of Gate 9. Many of the residents who live on the roads that run off Henrico Richmond Turnpike: Oronoco Avenue, Greenbrier Avenue, Engleside Drive and Alba Street -- allow parking and camping in their yards. There are places right on Richmond-Henrico Turnpike, but those are higher priced. Off Laburnum Avenue, there are a couple of streets that have camping and parking too: Florida, Walnut and Carolina. Prices range from $25 to $45 for parking and $100 and up for camping.

FROM RECON OFFICER GINO: Life Tabernacle International Church. 500 ORONOCO AVENUE, RICHMOND, VA 23222, 804-321-8075 Baptist church directly accross the street from gate 10. Most of the haulers come out of this gate after the race.

Less than a mile Azalea Flea Market 5209 Wilkinson Rd Richmond, VA 23227-3183 (804)329-8853 THERE IS CAMPING, PARKING AND VENDORS HERE.

The Campgrounds I found are located below. The number listed first (before the name) is the distance from the track. Some may have shuttles or are on the Free Shuttle map listed in the section above Hotels. Ask when you call.

Johnny at Starwberry Hill was almost impossible to get a hold of. He finally called me back about 2 weeks ago. I will be camping there at the Fall race.
Any one else going to be there?
Let me know

Headed to RIR for my first time next week. Driving equipment down for MRO and will be in the pits for the race weekend, as well staying in the drivers motorcoach lot. Hopefully this turns into something bigger eventually and I'll be able to get some great insider's view pic's for y'all. Will be @ NHIS with HAAS/CNC the following week as well, but camped out with all my regular crew in the V lot. Maybe can catch up with some of you guys there! Will be parked not too far from the main gate. After the next couple weeks are over and then my moose hunt with Jeff Green, I promise I will have PLENTY of pics to post up for everyone to enjoy! Take care all and God Bless!

Hey all, OK I think this was the last time we camped at Kings Dominion.
Long Story...
According to RIR I am close to the top for the waiting list for track camping.
I have been on the list for 7 years.
If any of you have track parking. Do you like it? Where is it? Cost?

For the spring (08) I think I am going to wing it and drive down to the track and try to find somewhere to park the camper. Do any of you have a personal recommendation? A name of phone number?
(I saw the list above)

And would Friday late morning be too late to get a spot?

Thanks again..
