Is there an "economical" GPS or GPS software designed for RVs and Travel Trailers?
I have MS Street and Trips with GPS in my laptop and it is OK when I am traveling for work, but it does not tell you if there is a tunnel "That you are not supposed to go through with Propane" or low bridges. I realy don't want to turn my trailer into a convertable, and I would rather know Where and How I am going to get around a tunnel before I get there.

Try this link info on program called Copilot Live. I have trucker friends that use the trucking version and love it. The link below has some good info, also try googling GPS for truckers, lots of hits there

Here's another link with more info about http://www.dieselboss.com/Travrout/cptruck.htm

For around $30.00 you can also get a Rand McNally Truckers Atlas, its pretty cool, check it out at your local bookstore, might be all you need.

Only thing you have to be careful of with Tom Tom, don't think they have a "truck" mode so they will route you based on they think you have a car, not always good. Some gps have a "truck" mode. Can't tell you which one right off top of my head but they usually cost more

Streets and trips has a truck mode but I am not sure if they factor in the criteria for low bridges.

The only place I have seen this in is the book called " The exit authority"

you can buy it at the cracker barrell.

it has a section in it with all the bridge clearances, etc...

i also think rand mcnally has a truckers atlas and this was in it as well.

I am not aware of a gps unit that actually speaks and verbally notifies us of low bridges ahead is this on the market now?

even if it was i would still be trusting a map for a long time before a piece of software:)

For your reference;
The link below will allow you to download “POI’s” for the NASCAR tracks to your GPS, if you search around the site they also have NASCR Race shops POI’s as well.

They also so have racing icons and sounds you can download to your GPS. :D

You know I always forget about this. I went out and got the GPS out of the Car and started uploading. Take out the old and add the New. I for one have been out doing something(shopping) and try to catch the race on the radio and I search and search trying to find a station that has the race on. I just uploaded all the PRN and the Motor Racing Radio Stations into my GPS. Also added The Camping World Locations. (More Shopping) There is so much stuff that you can Add. (Yes, I have Wal Marts added). They also have all the Wal Marts that has No Overnight Parking. I didn't add those I figure of they had a sign then I would just go next door. If there is a Wal Marts there is usually something close by.

Hi. My wife and I just got home from a tour of lower Vermont and New Hampshire and we gave up on the Garmin unit with the truck programing as it twice tried to compact our fifth wheel into the form of a pop-up camper. We will still rely on the atlas-truckers, for driving advice.

Well I contacted Garmin and they finaly got back to me and siad that the only units they have that have Truck Mode are the C3## and the c 6## series units.

Jade is your 5th a bit bigger then ordinary tractor trailers?

Shirley, What program do you use with your garmin? I could not find a way to pick and choose the POIs I wanted to upload. There website is not very easy to navigate, and the instructions are not very good either.
Thanks
