If you are in town, NASA has a shuttle Launch tenativley scheduled for Feb 12th,2009 at 11PM. The nite of the Duals, if you are in town you should try to check it out. Cocoa Titusville is not a far drive. Traffic might be a pain but it is a cool thing to see in person.

They were supposed to this year also , but the prior launch got pushed too far back. The mid February launch got moved into March. :???:

My wife and I and 4 others were at Coco Beach for the March launch in 2008. If anybody is interested,I would not venture in that direction as there is approx. a 3 hour traffic tie up to try to leave after the launch. I would head down to the beach on the south side at Daytona and watch it from there. It does light up the sky for approx. 20 odd miles in all directions. This is supposed to be the last night launch of the shuttle program. It is awsume.

Agreed Jade, just drive down to Ponce Inlet and watch from there. Not real close but still awesome for a nite launch

I had some sites reserved at that campground that the county owned but never did use them....

If it goes off during Speedweeks (actually Thursday Nite after the Twins Duals whatever) I will at the Space Center compliments of Sen Bill Nelson. Since launch is scheduled for around 11:30 pm should be able to make it after the race. Hope so, will be cool to see it from there. However, am not holding my breath of it actually going up that nite
