Published reports today say Quebec's Patrick Carpentier is likely to run the Nationwide Series full-time next year. Carpentier's current Sprint Cup ride at Gillett-Evernham is finished at the end of this season unless a sponsor is found - which isn't off the table - but not promising either. Carpentier says he does have a Nationwide ride lined up and will run the series...

GEM went after Sorrenson in order and get the U.S. Army sponsorship...They shot themselves in the foot on that one, seems that they are going to the #39 with SHR and Newman. Sorrenson will probably keep the #10 car and Valvoline and MUST have partial sponsorship to be in that car because it is underfunded anyway!
I'd rather see Patrick in a competitive NationWide car and a crappy Cup car.
Rumour has it that Pat will be in the Braun #32 in 2209 !!!!
If not...We know that Ford would be interested in Pat and if so...Let hope that he lands with a team that also runs Cup cars!!!

GOOD NEWS!
NAPA Auto Parts announced that Canadian driver Patrick Carpentier will be a competitor in the NAPA Auto Parts 200 as the NASCAR Nationwide Series crosses the border for the third year in a row to compete at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Parc Jean Drapeau, Aug. 30. Carpentier and NAPA Auto Parts entered into an agreement allowing the Canadian driver to be at the wheel of the No. 99 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry fielded by Michael Waltrip Racing.

I just hope he gets more than just Montreal and Glen in Nationwide...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he will be picked up for a cup ride for Glen and Sears point at least!

After talking with Robert Desrosiers it was clarified that Michael Waltrip racing was in a rush to have a fire suit for patrick, they took what they had that could fit him nad sown the Komatsu badge on......There is nothing to the fact that this was a Sprint Cup badge aside from they didn't have a NationWine one available !!!

Well.....Look here....I've got a big big big big gut feeling that we will see Patrick Carpentier in Cup for about 10 races this year....
You've read it here first.....LOL!

So far you are at least 1/2 right. :)
On the pre-race show today, Tommy Baldwin said Riggs was out and Carpentier would be driving 5 cup races for him. Oddly enough, not the 2 road course races. Baldwin said he already had Brian Simo in place for them.

Carpentier will be behind the wheel for both Pocono events, the June 28 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the Sept. 12 race at Richmond International Raceway and wrap up with the Sept. 27 race at Dover International Speedway.

He is in the 55 for Waltrip at Sears Point so I would guess Watkins Glen as well. He may well get a full time ride with MWR next year. Rumour has it Mikey will hang up his helmet and devote himself full time to ownership.

Here is another chance to get behind our local boy....
I wanted to let you know that Patrick Carpentier is once again in the SIRIUS NASCAR Radio Fan’s
Choice voting this week. The winning driver’s in-car audio will air on a
SIRIUS|XM Driver2Crew Chatter channel during the Toyota SaveMart 350 on Sunday.
Patrick’s fans can visit www.sirius.com/driver2crew to cast their votes before
Friday at 5 pm ET.
He's a great road racer and plus it would be real cool to hear the way he communicates with his crew chief....We've all heard Dale Jr so...Let's give Pat a chance...
Thanks to all !

Would love to know how many people have actually voted in that Sirius poll. You have to admit it is pretty incredible that he's got more votes than all those other drivers... even Jr! Likely a testament to the passion and enthusiasm he showed last year, and the fans seem to appreciate that.
I hope Mikey has given him a good piece to drive on Sunday!!!
