Jr lost a motor in the 1st practice. In the second practice, he lost a tire and hit the wall in turn 4. Not sure, but I think Kasey Kahne may have gotten in it as well. Both going to backup cars. Reuitemann (sp?) as well...

All kinds of tire issues in the ARCA race, this could lead to an interesting weekend.
Tim Mitchell got a 19th place finish - hopefully some of our Nascarcamping pit crew were there to help him out. 8)

the arca race was the bomb! it was so good.
tim (06) ran with a spark plug issue and still finished 19th!! Steve (shirley DH) was the tire carrier....it was really really cool watching him...shirley took movies of it all so i'm sure we will be seeing them soon.
Krissy Wallace came in 8th....she had a great showing and she got caught up in the big 12 pile up early on in the race.
everyone here at dega sure wish you guys were here....the weather is perfect...we are all having a great time.
time for more visiting so i'll check in later!

Dale Earhnardt Jr. will go to a backup car for Sunday's race after wrecking his primary car during a multi-car crash in Friday afternoon's practice session at Talladega. The melee started when Jr. blew a right rear tire on his No. 88 racecar. Others involved were Tony Stewart, David Gilliland, Kasey Kahne, David Reutimann and Clint Bowyer. Gilliland and Kahne also went to backup cars; the rest were able to fix their primary cars.

No you dont have to go to the back because it is an impound race. Its for when you have already qualifyied and the change or wreck your car in practice . No one will go to thw back unless they wreck in qualifying!!!!!

Unfortunately for the Jr fans, that's not true - he had an engine change and so will go to the back. But it's Dega, it doesn't matter that he's back there, it's not like Martinsville or Bristol where being at the back means you are likely to go a lap down early on.

While you "savor" your ninth place finish....I'll gloat in Bobby's 6th place!!!:mrgreen:
What a race!!! Gotta love Dega!!
I do have to comment though that the infield camping and the stands looked much emptier than in previous years. There were even a few open spots on Allison Ave - I don't think I've ever seen that before.
I also have to say that I disagree with the ruling on Regan Smith. Not allowing the win is one thing, moving him to the back of the pack is wrong IMO.

You know that is a crock of doodie!! I heard them say during the truck race the other night that the pass under the yellow line does not count on the last lap. Then when it happened today, one of the announcers even said "I don't think it counts on the last lap"...so there must be some kind of different rule for the different series...just my observation.
All I can say is...that makes Robby's day even better...WOOOHOOO EIGHTH PLACE!!!
And yes...I was happy that Mr. Labonte had an incredible day as well. Sixth place now!! Wooohoooooo!!!

Dega, you just never know what will happen. I think Ragan got pushed down there myself a bit. Either way shouldn't have had to go to the end. Oh well, its just Dega!!! And you never know how it will shake out. Great race, gald for Bobby and Robbie for sure

I wouldn't have had wanted to be the one making the call. I was suprised they disallowed the pass, as I figured they would rule that Smith was forced below the line.
We watched the last 30 laps with friends and their 8 and (almost) 2 year old kids. That kept me from getting to "emotional" when Jr got collected in the mess. :)
