Did anyone else notice the slight dejection on Carl's face in Victory Lane when the ESPN reporter pointed out that JJ finished 2nd?? It was like he got the wind knocked out of him when he looked up at the scoring tower and saw JJ was in fact second. I think he was thinking he at least got a few more spots (and points) on him than that!

Yup, he just stood there with the smile gone right off his face. He could have finished 43'd if you went by his look.

I saw that! Wow he looked like the wind went right out of his sails. As much as I am sick of "Mr October" you have to give him credit, that was a hell of a run to get to 2nd in the final laps.

I was surprised that Carl hadn't noticed JJ was second until then. I would have thought with the victory lap, burnout, flip, drive to victory lane, commercial break, etc. he would have stolen a glance at the scoring tower just to see. But, I guess with the adrenaline of a race win and everything going on, he was pretty distracted.

You're right about Mr. October... I said the same thing to my wife after the race. Heck of a job coming back from the early speeding penalty (although a couple of those "mystery debris" cautions certainly didn't hurt his cause). :shock:

BTW - did anyone listen to Junior on the Trackpass? New record on the cussing count I think.

At least Carl was really sweet this weekend... After doing the hat dance in victory lane and the Media center for the interview, he ended up going back to Victory Lane to hang with his sponsors that were there...

On the other hand, I was almost run over twice by JJ's golf cart driver. You would think after 3 races of me telling him he can't take the cart into the Media Center he'd get the message.... But no, he has to say this.... "But he just drove 500 miles, what do you mean I can't pick him up at the door?????" This is after I've worked about 37 hours in 3 days....

Well, I tried to tell him a different place to go so that it wouldn't be quite that far of a walk, but he wasn't interested...

You know, it's funny... When I was younger, I never disagreed or questioned when someone told me no... You wouldn't believe how many wanted to argue with me when I wouldn't let them in at the Media Center...
