I don't know about anyone else...but I am going to have a hard time sleeping knowing I am going to be getting up to start the Christmas shopping season at 4am. There is nothing more enjoyable than watching people throw fist and elbows over a tickle me Elmo doll, or watching people "shoplift" items out of other peoples carts, then witnessing the inevitable conflict afterwards.
Since we moved here five years ago, it has been Mr. Pig and my tradition to brave the elements and the crowds to go out and to attempt to get the bulk of our Christmas shopping done by 8am. This year we only have three planned stops JC Penney, Home Depot and Walmart. But typically we find ourselves sucked into other places.
Here is a listing of all of the Black Friday Ads. http://www.black-friday.net/
I can say last year, the ONLY place I went was Walmart. We weren't in Walmart farther than the third express register over, and a Chinese lady with a cart full of kitchen appliances literally sped up and ran into my hip. (Keep in mind she was done shopping and there was not another soul around us for 20 yards...NO ONE) I stopped...utterly stunned, looked at her like "What the..." and she goes "Chooooooooooooory". I realized at that point that I was capable of wiping the floor with what would have remained of that woman after I whooped her, so we got the two PS2 games, and promptly went home in fear of another incident.

I've only did the early sale one time and thought I was going to end up in jail, so I wait until about 7:00 to go, figure if it's still there then it was meant to be. My husband won't go with me at all any time of day.

We drove to NC yesterday to spend Turkey Day dinner with some friends in Mocksville. Have a hotel room in Concord and will be at LMS today for the souvenier blowout sale and take some laps on the track in big blue. There will be a crowd, but not like braving the crowds at Concord Mills or Carolina Mall, or Best Buy .. etc. I'm not THAT nuts.

I had an ephiphany when I was at JC Penney this morning (note it is 520am as I write this...so the pig is with it early)...A good game plan for buying clothes on black friday is even if they don't have the size you need, buy a like item at the sale price, and take it back a week or so later when the next truck comes in and exchange for the one you need. So if you need size 6 regular pants for your son, and all they have is the size 18 huskies...buy them!! I had to do that with a comforter that my daughter wanted this morning...didn't have the one that I wanted, but then I was like "DING"...the bell went off in my head...I asked a manager who was standing near by...said SURE!! If nothing else, I can still return the item....no harm...no foul.
I survived Black Friday with all of my appendages intact...and didn't harm any other shoppers in the process. In all honesty...I am so damn chipper I could have been the greeter at Walmart. Even got up 45 minutes before my alarm went off (that would be 315am). The Mr. is not too happy right now...:p

I got my christmas shopping done this morning, in other words I bought myself everything I wanted this holiday. Got to Sears just after 5 am got a new kenmore front loading washer and dryer $599. for the pair! Now that was a steal plus free delivery. Then it was a quick jaunt over to home depot for a Ryobi grinder Reg. price $45. got it $19.95 picked one up for my brother as well. Then slid on down to lowes for 3 Black and Decker utility cabinets, Reg. price $94 got them $34 a piece. Didn't have to pick anything up for my wife, see was done the night JJ won the championship. Just logged in to Nascar.com and got he a bunch of 3 in a row merchandise. I was suprised how few people were out today...Jed

Got to Wal-Mart around 9:30, I found the bike that I needed for the granddaughter and the GPS for myself. The crowd had started to let up some by that time.

Between the guy that was trampled at one Walmart...and then there was a shooting somewhere else...it is mayhem!! I can say it was rather uneventful when I was out on Friday. The worst I have ever seen was a woman taking something out of another woman's basket. The taker says "you ain't paid for it yet b!t*h" and it was a verbal battle from there...we high tailed it out of that area REALLY quick. NO...I was not involved. ha!!

I did most of my black friday shopping online. I went to big lots around 7am and what I wanted was already gone :( , then went to Wallyworld around 9 and bought a camera at the camera desk and got the heck out of there!
