Getting my RV to Daytona

Here's a question for you. Last year We left for Daytona on a Wed afternoon at 3pm. We drove all night and got there at 10 am the next day. That was not so bad but we left 2 hours after the race Sunday and drove all night and got back home around 5 pm. That was tough. So here is my question...how do I find someone that would like a nice leisurely week long drive to Daytona beach. No cost RV rental and free gas. Have it in the West lot by Wed in time for me to fly into Daytona Intl and catcha cab to the west lot. They would rent a car and be gone until Monday AM and then drive back to Texas at a nice easy pace taking a week to get back if they want. Anyone heard of that or have any ideas how I would put that together? Didn't know if there were websites with forums with stuff like that.

Heck, don't know about that one Tim, guess you would have to find someone in Texas, that you could trust, the either wants to
1. Go to the races but stay in a hotel (pricey)
2. Spend a few days at the "mouse House" while you enjoy the races.

Bottom line you need someone who has alot of free time to do that for you. Maybe you might consider just flying into Daytona and renting an RV there. Believe Camping world is doing some deals about renting RV's and delivering them to the track. Or check out this website for a bounder for rent, maybe they would deliver to the track

Yeah I thought of that but when you have all of your stuff just like you want it in your own RV it is hard. I will look for a retired couple with time on their hands wanting to take a really cheap vacation for 2.5 weeks. We will see.

I dont have one lined up. Had a great one last year. I have to figure out how to get it there first then I will committ. I wish I had 2 days to get there and 2 days back. Kids, work, pets, work, kids, kids, kids, you know!

Tim did you have a RV or Pull Behind? If it is a RV I could Drive it there but would need a place to stay after I get there. Or I could stay with ya'll if there was room. Or someone in our group. I would have to check my schedule. I would Love to do it.

Is there a staging area for the RV`S before they go into the infield???Does anyone know the how,when,and where we go to get into the infield

Bent, I am assuming you are planning on entering the infield on Tuesday the 10th? They used to let you stage along Williamson Blvd. day before, but really not sure if they still do. Depending on when you are planning on pulling into Daytona, maybe you might consider doing Monday nite in Walmart parking lot or someplace like that. Try giving the speedway a call. I'll also double check with a friend of mine that DBPD.

Yea, she was telling me that you were. We have a Motel about a mile from the track. I got a hold of Tim and he said that it was still up in the air about him taking his RV. Even if he dont go we are going to go in Judy's van or my car.

Staging used to be where the flea market is, south of the track along williamson a few miles away if memory serves me right.

Wish I could...the Mr. would kill me if I went to the 500 without him. Gotta watch our spending for a few months, Keith has dropped his paperwork to retire, so until he gets word he officially has a "real job"...I can't make plans...(except that dang car that is still a figment of my imagination....)
