Have you ever been watching a race when the announcers start talking about a few cars further back in the pack that are racing hard against each other and think, jeeze, these guys constantly see every car from the front to the back of the pack without missing a thing?
Well, I was at school last night (I take night classes, only 3 more to go for my degree, yahoo!) and I was doing a presentation on Speedway Motorsports Inc, when the instructor interrupted and told us about one of his co-workers and his weekend job. This guys weekend job is with the broadcast team and he works as a spotter for the announcers. He watches the back of the pack for something interesting going on, and if he finds anything he reports it in. I had no idea they had anyone doing such a job and I thought it was interesting.
