Man what a wreck! I loved the Ricky Bobby at the end! Hope someone got some good pics! Too bad he didn't do a back flip off the crash truck, that would have been classic!

On a good note, glad he is OK!

I just heard on sirius nascar radio post race show a report of some injuries in the stands from that crash. Let's hope everyone is OK.

I really like Carl and Brad, and not sure what happened at the end was rough driving. I've only seen a couple of replays from the bar in Richmond, but if Brad was pretty much holding his line and Carl came down.....if Brad doesn't move, that does not constitute rough driving, imo.

But, I didn't get a real good look at it and have been wrong before. ;)

Yeah, that was our concern. I hate it when pieces fly into the stands.

Tim, send me a beer over here. lol
That was the way that we seen it several times. I love Carl but he went down to block. and Brad wasn't going to move.

Yeah - the Sirius folks admitted the details were sketchy... but they had heard eight people, two were serious. Some people were being airlifted to the hospital, but they thought that was just due to traffic, and not the severity of injuries. :?:

Even Carl said that Brad didn't do anything wrong...he held his line. Was a wicked crash though...I wish they would say something about the fans, that has me worried. :(

The yellow line rule may prevent some wrecks, but it caused this one. Keslowski was in spot where he was not running for points, so it was "checkers or wreckers" for him. Without the rule, he moves down, and the fastest car wins.

On a radio interview after the race, Brad said he asked the about the rule after the rookie driver's meeting and was told "don't let them force you below the line".

Nascar.com is reporting that one lady probably had a broken jaw and the other one was a precaution for a prior medical condition

I hope that Nascar takes a look at the fences at both Dega and Daytona, those fences need to be a few feet higher.

Prayers to the injured fans.

But WOW:shock: what a finish!!!

You know there was someone and I do believe that it was an IRL race that a driver went up into the fence at Texas and they added more fence to the top there. I am just glad that no one got hurt badly so far that I have heard about.
I am just glad that it happen at the end of the race and at the first one. You know how long it could have took to replace that fence.

They were racing, and Brad had the fastest car, hell he pushed Edwards to the front. Rule or not, why would he move? Drivers should be out to win every race, points or not. That is what I pay to see. No matter what NASCAR does, you will always see wrecks like that. Sometimes it is going to happen no matter what. Nobody wants to see anybody get hurt but chances are it is going to happen. I just want to see good hard racing and thats what that finish was.

Credit to the rookie, he did just what the driver meeting stressed.

Not sure about the warning only earlier in the race when two cars did go below the line and passed a slower car.

Bottom line, (no pun intended), I believe that winning is what the sport is all about, I hate this "points"driving----I still think a win should get a greater reward, maybe 50 points instead of only 10.

Another great Dega finish and what a PR Bonanza for the Sport. That Carl Edwards is just a class act the "Ricky Bobby" to the finish and the post race interview. You can't not like him, even if he's not your driver..

I'm glad nobody was hurt bad, but man I LOVE that kind of hard racing and all the action. I would like to see some of that action in other races, so many have gotten boring.
You just have to love it......................

Gotta admit the fence did it's job..no car in the stands, glad no one was hurt bad for sure.. Few more feet might help but smaller stuff will always go thru. I still have a piece of the door off a Daytona prototype (Porsche I believe), from the Rolex 24 back in 1985. Door blew off in the tri oval, some pieces came thru, no over the fence, track people tried to get all pieces they could, when they asked me if any pieces fell around me, of course I said no, had a nice pice in my bag already that I wasn't giving up.

I agree that Brad was pushing, and Carl said later he hadn't realized Brad had moved when he spun. My sisters boyfriend insists that Carl got loose when Brad moved and Carl was airborne before he hit him. I couldn't see it that well, but I know Carl is class act and we have a really good picture of him running across the finish Line and I will post it when I find it!

Brad said he was clocked at 204mph at the finish! Man, I thought the finish was fantastic, but hated that big wreck early on. I like wrecks as much as anyone, heck that's what makes Dega so fun! I just hate so many cars going to the garage that early.

Carl's car landed right in front of us, but we didn't get any good shots of the fire. :( On the scanner they were yelling at him to see if he was ok. Carl answered I am OK, but my A** hurts. The crew replied that they could fix that! LOL
