A few of you had asked about Speedway sports park at NHIS.. well I visited the place last week. They gave us a tour, the people working there were very nice, and the campground seems pretty nice. You do get more room, not a ton more, but you do get more room, and they are pretty flexible on how you setup. We saw a few setups where 3 or more campers were together, and instead of setting the campers up side by side, they set them up in a big "U" so they had a large common area.
It generally pretty level, but some areas do have a gentle slope.
Some sites have electric, and all sites have access to water. The water connections are all around the perimeter of the campground, so they ask you to connect, fill up, then disconnect.
They do have a dumping station there, and security. When we showed up, they had someone at the gate checking who was coming in, so only those who belonged there were there.
They have entertainment on the weekend, and after the race on Sunday they have a cookout for the entire campground.
Your sites are reserved, so you have the same site race after race, unless you want to move to another site.
The price is $250 per race week, or $400 for both races.
You can bring an extra car, but theres an extra charge.
We're still not sure if we are heading over there. We usually bring 2 campers up (the "adult" camper, and the popup for my son and his friends), so it could get expensive. For this past race it wasn't that bad (but still crowded) and the track camping sites, we'll wait till Sept and see how it goes then before making a decision.
