I can't speak for the track itself, I have only been there once and that was 5 years ago. The internet is a great place to look for campgrounds in the area, and from what I have learned so far you want to book your campground as far in advance as you can. Most campgrounds have pictures up on there website and information about rules and rates. Usualy the area campgrounds raise there rates over race weekends so don't go into "sticker shock" when you see the prices.
Truex....Hmmmmm Wall Stadium ring a bell? :?:

no tickets just 2 admmission spots, I think my cost is 1200 but I need to double check that, these spots are good for about 5 days on the infield, they are located backing onto Lake Lloyd premium area.

camping on outside is available, but the inside is where you want to be.
Lots of people watch from the top of there rigs, or sit in the stands, then you will need tickets.
I personally have never sat in the stands at Daytona, ( well yes I did in 66)
Its up to you, depends also what type of experience you are looking for

Well we are looking to have fun, I have 2 children age 14, and 3 adults, but once you are on the infield are you aloud out? or are you on the infield for the whole time ? Do they have places to buy things or do you have to go outside the track to do that . also I guess if you want to sit in the stands then you would need the tickets but if not can you see from where you park or do you have to have to watch from the top of the rig (husband would cry if we did that its brand new) loll Also if your buying on the infield your paying for the infield but if you want to sit in the stands then you have to buy for both,(right)

yes you can come and go as you please, you can walk out or drive out there are 2 tunnels, the one in turn 4 closes at midnight, the new one in turn 1 is open 24 hours

thats right, if you get there early enough you can try both, and there are lots of stores and the volusia mall right across the street, no problems there, a super target also :D

I may have asked this before, what is the going rate to stay on the infield at Daytona, and how much freedom do you have to go around, and how do you go about getting tickets for the stands,(my husband keeps saying we need to build a platform so we can see the race if we go on the infield but I"m not carring all that extra weight with me in the travel tailer.)

I would love to camp on the infield at Daytona during speed week.
Here are a couple of questions:
I have a van camper (Class B) and tow a utility trailer that has a rack on top that can be easily converted into a perch from which we can view the races. We also haul a golf cart in it. Would they allow such a trailer? How about using the golf cart around the infield?
Any public shower facilities around the infield or do you have to use your motorhome?
I had heard they have "honey wagon" (pump out) service?
No source of water to fill your tanks inside the infield?

Also wondering if your sites for sale are for Feb 2008 and how much?
Do you get a decent view of the track?
Are you able to mosey around everywhere on the infield or does that all cost extra?

The trailer should not be a problem as a lot of people have generators that they haul around with them.
The golf cart is another matter, since Daytona is an ISC track you need to have proof of insurance with them, you need to call them directly.

Yes showers are available, go early, they get trashed the last few days
I had heard they have "honey wagon" (pump out) service?
yes lots of honey wagons circling
No source of water to fill your tanks inside the infield?
yes water trucks circle also.

yes sites are available for the red zone on the infield, I think my costs was 1200.00
yes also to wandering around, anywhere on the infield, but you need to pay to use the fan zone. The 1st year was free....
It is a hit and miss for viewing from your rooftop, yes you can see more, all depends how much you want to see though.

I know from seeing the track from outside that its huge and seeing all around is nearly impossible unless the infield was at a much higher elevation and my rig is tall enough to see over the neighbors.
I would also guess that much of the "experience" of a race is not the race itself, but the PARTY ATMOSPHERE that surrounds it. I am sure its a blast!
So did you say yes to public showers available? OK for using golf cart?

I am going to get going on my trailer modifications and building a perch. I wonder if I can build a bar with a keg cooler on top? hmmm sounds like I need to get out the graph paper. :D
It sounds like the Lake Lloyd sites are awesome and they have hookups right?
Nascarcamping

Hey whatever you do, make sure you let us know and take pictures!!!
Now the bar with a keg on the roof would definetly take 1st prize, that would be a first
Yes Lake Lloyd has 15,20,30 and 50 amp, and water, now sewer, but there is honey wagons

We have been camping in the infield at Daytona for about 10 years. The last three in the Lake Lloyd premium lot.
If my memory is correct the general infield (all but Lake Lloyd area) opens on Wed. and is somewhat reserved. This does not allow exiting the infield once you are inside unless you want to pay to re-enter. As for golf carts, the rule is you have to have a legitimate business reason for using it and regester with ISC for a sticker. Either single event or season registration, includes a fee. Doesn't mean that some people don't get away with it but they could confiscate your cart if you don't comply with their rules.
The Lake Lloyd sites are fenced off from the general infield with security, water, electric and cable TV and limited access. You can tow your car in and come and go at will without paying a re-entry fee. All of these sites are paved and you can move in Friday before the Shootout and stay for 10 days. All viewing is from the roof of your unit unless you purchase grandstand seats in addition to your infield site. I'm not sure about the availibility of any sites personally, but you can contact the track for answers to those questions.
If you have any questions I can help you with, let me know. crawford1947@hotmail.com will get to me quicker than anything but my company e-mail and it is already busy enough.

Plenty on Ebay before the race also.

I spoke with ticket office at Daytona end of last week. They said that all of the West Lot (located outside of track between turns 1 and 2 not a viewing area) is sold out for next year, nothing left. Far as tickets in grandstands, believe all they have left are some backstretch tickets and think those are going fast also. Whatever you decide to do you should probably do it rather quick. Next year will be totally sold out before long.

ditto the 50th will be huge and everyone is already planning their trips ( just look at us all here doing it), so everything will go super fast.
Now the next year there will be spots opening up, as some people are just waiting to see what the 50th will all be about.

How big is daytona next year?? Got a call from the RV company I am renting mine from for 2008 about 2 weeks ago. They wanted me to set up my departure time with them for next Feb now, since they are totally booked and folks are already scheduling their departure times now, 6 months ahead. They said they have never seen this much anticiaption for this race. My interest got peaked so I called a couple of other RV rental places in the Tampa Bay area. No One had anything available for rent for Daytona next year. And my friends thought I was being silly getting my reservation done back in June of this year.
