i just bought a 1980 GMC Centurion Class C and yesterday when I when to put the plates on it, I was informed that i needed a certification for an antic evaluator before I could plate the vehicle!!!!
I'm in Quebec, is this the norm elswhere in Canada??

in ontario we need to get a motor vehicle saftey done and thats all thats needed to plate any motor vehicle and the age of your unit it is exempt from emissions test as well, so for you guys in quebec i have no idea what is needed. unless you quailfy for antique status like for old cars you may need something done by the insurance company

Hi MASTERTECH, thank for the reply.
I was trying to ghet a feel of how different it can be from province to province.
My Class C was still plated so it did not need a safety check for the transfer from one owner to another but it was required that I get it evaluated because it was more than 25 years old, my guess is this is because it is not showing in the computers anymore that that SAAQ needs to tax the 7.5% on something so they are reliying on a third party evaluator to give them the market value.
