(July 17/18, 2009) This weekend Regan Smith and David Reutiman join some of the top drivers from around the Northeast to run in event #1 of the Triple Crown - the IWK 250 at Riverside Speedway, James River, Nova Scotia. Smith returns for his third year to defend his win from last year's event. Joined by David Reutimann of MWR in cars prepared by Track/Team owner John Chisholm.
Last year Regan Smith man-handled his car to victory after losing the power steering early in the race.
In the midst of a tumultuous NASCAR season that sees Smith running part-time with frequent changes to his schedule, the driver never gave up on coming back to the prestigious event for the third consecutive time. Smith is driving a car out of the Nova Racing shop co-sponsored by Blue-Wave Energy and Stone's RV.
"It's an awesome track and facility," said Smith. "I just had to find a way to get back there so we worked with our schedule and track management until the 11th-hour to make it happen."

We had an awesome trip - even with the rain! My 8 year old son had an absolute blast, as well. Can't say enough good things.
You bet you'll see us this weekend. My folks will be arriving Wednesday, my son and I will get there before noon on Friday. Forecast has been touch and go, though. Looking like a fine day for at least Saturday. Really excited to see Smith and Reutimann this year!!!

Your always welcome. We're always in the top left corner of the camping area if your looking at it from the track. Look for my black Jeep Cherokee with a Dale Sr vanity plate parked near a Jayco 5th wheel. Fundytrail is usually in the same area and flies a Nascar camping flag.
If you've never been to Riverside, your in for a real treat - BEAUTIFUL, GREAT RACING, and modeled after Bristol.

Heading out to the track, be there in less than an hour. Weather not great but the forecast isn't too bad. 100 lap Sportsman and 50 lap Legends races tonite. 250 laps of Pro-Stock action tommorrow night! I'll let you all know how it went!

We arrived on Tuesday sorry we missed you all again. We were parked to the left of the main RV lot as you enter from the road along the woods, had my Rookies Tailgate flag flying.
Friday night was a good example of how NOT to run a 100 lap race, no I’m wrong that was changed to 75 laps half way through the race, no I’m wrong again as they through out the checker at 60 laps.
Saturday was a rain out and on Sunday I’m not sure how they managed to make a 250 lap race into a 6+ hour event, maybe there was some confusion in the tower. :-?
We had a great time and track management did a great job but the officials from the two series did have some issues. Plus the fight in the pits directly in from of us was and added feature :o

Then we did find you, on one of our strolls, but no one was home - lol! It was the only Nascar Camping flag there.
Friday night was terrible. My tickets were free with my advance weekend passes - or I'd have demanded a refund. These guys have run like this for the last few years - it used to be some great racing - but that's ridiculous!! We were on lap 6 for almost 45 minutes - lol!!!
We got our autographs Saturday and got back to the trailer before the rain started. Never shocked when there's a rain out at Riverside.
Track has got to get it together. Wilma had nothing but warm bottled water all day on Sunday and ran out of some items on the menu before lunchtime - then out of everything way too early! Stood in line for 25 minutes only to be told I could only get water or pepsi! There's usually no issues like this at Riverside - not their best showing this weekend.
And then don't get me started on the end of the race. Although I didn't like the fact that they sent Regan to the back for drop kicking the #0, I understood it. Although Regan was having brake issues for about 50 or 60 laps prior, and Truple sure did body slam him the whole way down the back stretch!! The real bonehead move was for the Carquest officials to park him beacause Turples crew started a fight in his pits!! Although they announced he was in due to brake issues on the PA, I heard them on the radio tell him to park it! I hope this doesn't hurt our chances of getting Cup guys to come north next year.
Oh well, it was a great race up to that point, not every day you get to see a fist fight too - lol!! And any weekend at Riverside with a few beers and friends is a great weekend regardless!

And your right - the track did a fantastic job at putting on a great event overall. But the series' officials need some schooling!

A little late but wasn't the reason for the parking when someone from the #78 team threatened a official? not the fight it self.
