Eknute2 makes it to the Camping World Series

Eknute2, my son, who posted here last season about his adventures and travels as a jackman for Robb Brent in the ARCA series, has been picked up by Billy Ballew Motorsports to be the jackman on Aric Almirola's #15 Camping World Series Truck!

He's off to Daytona soon where he'll be pitting for Almirola in the trucks and an ARCA series team, and he hopes to be doing a few Nationwide races when the schedule permits.

If you're heading to Daytona, look him up!

i am so thrilled!! i was sure hoping that was going to be his big news! bet you and he are flying hi in the clouds. he worked so hard last year to make it into pit row! give him a big hug and kiss from his nascarcamping nana and i'll look him up while i'm at daytona!

We all kind of adopted him as one of ours here, I really enjoyed reading his posts, I hope he takes me up on the offer to put them into a book someday, heck I and the entire Nascarcamping group is proud of him, you must be beaming!!!!

Hey guys...bad news, it didn't happen.

We had a really good tryout, did a 13.6 in the rain, slowest was a 14.9 and the crew chief liked us. We found out the next week on monday and on tuesday took our drug test and filled out the licence stuff. On thursday that week at practice we found out it wasn't a done deal.

Too make a long story short, a few guys who work at the shop I guess were upset their friends from the past year wern't on the team, so they said complained and I guess it was a battle between the crew chief (who wanted us) and their business partner (who wanted the old crew of mixed people everyweekend.

So its been up in the air for awhile now and very stressful to be honest, what ended up happening and Billie Ballew took over from the other two and hired the pit crews from michael waltrip racing to pit the trucks for now. Less expensive without travel expenses and licencing of course but sucks for us.

It wasn't with out lack of effot from DJ or anybody else at OTW...I think it came down to a few things, responsibility at the shop and timing with the race being now 8 days away. So maybe it will work out with them later, but something will work out this year in a higher series soon, just got to be patient.

I will still be at daytona this weekend for the ARCA race piting for one of the Mark Gibson cars, don't know which one until I get there.

I promise to kept you more updated this year now with the internet and a new computer...I'll write something this weekend while on the road to sum up that past few months and what I hope to expect soon.
