Patrick Carpentier
From : Villa Lasalle, Quebec
Driving : No. 22 Dodge For Fitz Motorsports

Why He's A Household Name In Canada : The 1997 Champ Car Rookie Of The Year, Carpentier's spent the better part of a decade making a name for himself in open wheel. With five wins, five poles, and 22 podium finishes in 140 starts in Champ Car, the road racing expert finished a career-best third in the series standings in 2004 before making the jump to the rival Indy Racing League. However, that's where his career hit a wall; after a year of disappointing finishes in IRL with Eddie Cheever, he was left without a ride for 2006 and has since transitioned into stock cars, driving for Zeller Racing in the CASCAR Series. He hopes a strong performance on Saturday will give him a shot at a full-time Busch Series ride in the states.

Michael Valiante
From : New Westminster, British Columbia
Driving : No. 42 Dodge For Chip Ganassi Racing With Felix Sabates

Why He's A Household Name In Canada : Valiante is currently making a name for himself in the Grand Am Series, driving for Ganassi there along with teammates Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas. Valiante came to road racing after several years of competition in Champ Car's Toyota Atlantic Series, Champ Car's "minor leagues." He's coming off his first-ever second place finish in Grand Am on July 13th, trailing Scott Pruett to the finish line by .325 seconds in Iowa.

John Graham
From : Toronto, Ontario
Driving : No. 10 Dodge For Braun Racing

Why He's A Household Name In Canada : A seven-time competitior in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Graham has made a name for himself in road racing. In 2000, he was part of the only Canadian team to win its class in the prestigious race. In the past few years, he's made an effort to switch to stock cars; he made four Busch Series starts in 2004 for Canadian-owned MacDonald Motorsports. Another driver in the hunt for a full-time ride that's hoping this opportunity pays dividends.

Mike MacKenzie
From : Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
Driving : No. 63 Chevrolet For Spraker Racing

Why He's A Household Name In Canada : A veteran of stock car racing series in Canada for over 20 years, MacKenzie has competed in pro stock and late model races all over the country while building his reputation as a popular, consistent driver. He has three feature wins in MASCAR, a Canadian version of NASCAR that he's run since 1983. At 52, MacKenzie is running the race more as a pinnacle to his long career than anything else.

Trevor Boys
From : Calgary, Alberta
Driving : No. 71 Chevrolet For MacDonald Motorsports

Why He's A Household Name In Canada : The 49-year-old Boys already holds a NASCAR record of his own for the most starts by a Canadian in what is now the Nextel Cup series. In 102 career starts, most of them driving for legendary car owner James Hylton, Boys came up with a best finish of 9th at Dover in 1983. Earlier this season, Boys had announced a comeback into the series with a new team called H & K Motorsports, but plans stalled out. He's since made one Busch Series start for the MacDonald Motorsports team, coming home 29th at Milwaukee earlier this year.

D.J. Kennington
From : St. Thomas, Ontario
Driving : No. 72 Chevy For MacDonald Motorsports

Why He's A Household Name In Canada : Already a semi-regular in the Busch Series with MacDonald Motorsports, Kennington is likely looking at this event as the highlight of his young career. In five Busch Series starts this season, his best run is a 23rd at Dover in June.

Others entered from other countries include road racing open wheel vets Max Papis (Italy) and Niclas Jonsson (Sweden). Missing from the Montreal entry list : Jacques Villeneuve, the former open wheel star in both Champ Car and Formula One who was unable to land a high-quality ride for the race.
