Well...here I am at home already, where I should be sitting in the stands watching the final laps of the race at TMS, that is if it was a perfect world. I should have realized from the moment I parked my car, and then attempted to back it out and it was already stuck in the mud...it was a sign of what was to come...

Arrived Friday afternoon and went to qualifying. Happy to see Tony earn his first pole in five years!! Woohooo...we left qualifying to go roam the trailers and literally ran into Jenny and Scott. Was so happy to see them and to give my friend a big hug!! We roam around and collect our gobs of free stuff. Get back into the stands and get a text from Wendy that her and Rod had made it in from Phoenix. They invited me to go to Billy Bob's...can't pass that up!! We had a great time roaming that place together...from the girl in the skirt showing off her thong, to the awesome live bullriding, or listening to the sorry guy singing "I need some change in my pocket..." was a night full of fun and laughter!! As always, we have the best camping neighbors with Steve and Shirley...wait till she gets on here and tells you about the bad string of luck they had on when they arrived

Saturday Keith and I get up and head to the track to participate in the Cornhole tournament. Double elimination...we got one game in (and lost...they got lucky!!) and the rain started. They postponed the rest of the tourney until Sunday morning...didnt make it back:( So the rain came, and came and got progressively worse. So we made a day of sitting around drinking some wonderful apple pie made by our other great neighbor "Texas Tim". He also bailed me off of the road side parking with one of his extra tow vehicle passes...my car was safe and sound thanks to Tim. Not to mention he catered our meal on Saturday night thanks to all of his friends that didn't show up...again...Nice NOT to meet ya'll...best steak I have had in ages!! We will bring the steaks for Daytona Tim!!! ;) I have decided that it is a good thing Tim and the Mr. only get to see each other a couple times a year...haha!! We found a great entertainment of watching the big bad trucks and suvs stuck in the mud on the sides of the road adjacent to our campsites. You can not believe how saturated the ground was last night...and just continued to get worse over night. There was a motorhome just across from Rod and Wendy that's wheels were sunk and almost to the axles from just sitting...total mess...like Wendy says..."You might have a million dollar rig...but it ain't going to keep you outta the mud" Looked like the Titanic going down....

Today, I got up and looked at how the weather was shaping up and decided it was just best to head home early, before they called the race...so I was about 50 miles away from the track when they called it...sad that the only cars I saw on the track this weekend was qualifying, but happy I had put the majority of the race fans a lap down by already being on the road.

All in all...despite not even getting to see a single race...I would have to say it was one of the best race weekends ever. Thanks to the great friends we have made due to this campsite...and getting to spend time with ya'll in person. Wendy, Rod, Steve, Shirley, Tim, Jenny and Scott...can't wait until our paths cross again.

what a shame for everyone. It sounds like you made the best of it though. We have more fun at dover and don't really go in to the race anymore, the best times are just being with friends.

Well after about putting 5800 miles on the truck and camper, made it home! Must say all in all it was a good trip. Enjoyed Phoenix although I have to say it was a different atmosphere than I am used to at a NASCAR venue. It is a nice facility and the racing was good but people pretty much kept to themselves. Not what we are used to seeing at other tracks we go to. Texas was a riot even with all the rain and man it rained hard at times! Guess everything really is bigger in Texas! Well we made the best of it, and having great friends and meeting a few new ones made it a great experience! Thanks to the Dallas cops next to us for giving us great laughs and giving us the great Texas, ahem, "drive by" show with the bag full of beads! LMAO! Man those guys could party! Thanks to Melissa, Keith, Steve & Shirley and gang for great laughs, beers...more beers and warm propane heaters! LOL. Thanks to Texastim for the fantastic apple pie! I needed that like a hole in the head! Great conversation and letting us Canucks know what it is to be a true Texan! You are all great race fans and good friends! It really did make our trip finally getting time to spend time with "y'all"! Billy Bobs was a laugh and I think "Change in my pocket" has a whole new meaning now! Hope you enjoy Rick Springfield Melissa! Anytime you guys want to make a trip up north we would be glad to have you! Tim just needs to bring the apple pie!

Til we meet again! Rod & Wendy

Sounds like the rain only dampened the fun. Nascar campers can make new friends and have a good time under just about any conditions. Hope to see you all in Dover! :D
