Buasted hot water tank

Hi all,
can a hotwater tank be welded once it splits ????

depends if its aluminium or steel with a liner Attwood w/h are made of aluminium and can be welded back together where as a Suburban w/h is steel with a liner in it toss it away and buy a new one. also with the attwood depending on age if its older than 10 years the bottom of the tank may be so pitted that it not worth fixing just tap with a screwdriver and see if flakes come off it

I just happen to have an Attwood (aluminum) and from the gentleman that sold the motorhome top me, the hot water tank( the whole system not just the tank) is new, at most 2 years old. I guess that he did not do a very good winterization job ??? LOL!
