My race buddies and I are torn between Tent camping between the 2 races. Short track fun on a Sunday afternoon or speedway racing on a Sat. night. I have never tent camped at either but I was kinda spoiled by the Unreserved tent sites at AMS last fall(that was an awesome weekend). Whats the inside scoop and which would you choose. We always go to all the weekend events and stay over after the cup race but usually just hit a hotel. Oh, and we always take a race newbie every year so keep that in mind. thanks for the help.

There are a few things to keep in mind about your choice of these 2 tracks first LMS has alot more to do there. The Race shops and if you go For the 600 in May there is Speed Street also. We stay at Meadobrook campground down there it is behind the backstretch they run buses back and forth to the track and we have been back in our camper 35min after the race can't be beat. Now for Martinsville the night life is not as good but the racing is top notch. But and this is a Big But, the camping at the track can be hit and miss first if there is any rain is get real soft in there. But they are in the process of leveling this off and this may not be a big problem anymore. One nice thing about Martinville is it is real easy to get to a Wal-Mart traffic not is as bad there as LMS. Either way I think you will have a Great time. Hope I was some help...

I have had the rotten luck of attending both races in the rain. Also Rockingham and Richmond. BIG TIP for MARTINSVILLE rain or shine. Hay, Hay and more Hay. I recomend 2 bales per site. Lowes in the rain gets just as slickery (country word). I huddled under the bridge in the spring during a rain out and that fall it fell and hurt fans. Both tracks are great it's a matter of cost and time off.

Handsdown choice would be Lowes IMHO. It would be warmer and you wouldn't have to contend with the Martinsville red clay if it rains!
I feel Martinsville now has lousy dates - they used to run those races in mid-to-late April and September.

I have been to Lowes twice, Fall races of 2006 and 2007. I will vote after my first Martinsville race in the spring of 2008
