This is a link to the auction for the Ultimate package for Daytona 500 next year that a member here told me about.
So, Take a look at the bidders and tell me if you see anything fishy going on :?

Besides the fact the the "Foundation" has a reserve? or the fact that the last 10 bids are from the same bidder? Hmmmmmmm, I believe, In NJ when running an auction for a charity, you have to start the bidding at the lowest amount, and the highest bider wins, even if it does not meet the retail value.
Am I missing something other then those two things? :?:

Nope you are right on, I called them and they admitted they see what is going on, thing is, there is not a bidder higher than this amount, so you know it is not an automated bid like ebay does.
The other very questionable bid is the one that took it from 400 to 2500.
take a look at the next bid.
there is no way that a bidder would give up after raising it by 2100.00 dollars by 25.00.......
This is what you call " bid stuffing"

This is the reply I recieved from the NSACAR Foundation regarding the questioned aution. :?
"Thank you for your comments. This is an item that was donated to The NASCAR Foundation by the track for our online auction. We set a reserve based on the estimated value of the item, which is why the reserves vary from item to item. If an item does not meet the reserve we’ll evaluate if the highest bid is within reason to the item and then will occasionally still offer it to the highest bidder. We would agree that NASCAR fans are extremely charitable, a fact that is demonstrated time and time again on and off the track.
If you have any additional questions about a NASCAR Foundation item, please feel free to contact us.
Warm Regards,
Sarah Newman

I think maybe we need to look at other charities to contribute to. I have never heard of a fund raiser for any charity that picks and chooses what donations they receive.
I know that when My Volunteer Fire company has an auction, the law says the highest bidder wins not matter what the cost of the item.
The "Foundation said it was donated. so if they make $5.00 on it then they made money...... It seems a little shady to me.

My Reply
"Well, then you should start the bid at the lowest you are willing to accept. Some one is willing to give you money for something that did not cost you anything. If you make $500.00, than you should be grateful for that and put that $500 to good use. What happens to the ticket if you don't get what "you think" you should get?
So how much money do you turn down every year that could be out there helping your causes?
Beggars Shouldn't be choosers!!!!
I think I will find a different charity that appreciates every dime it gets."
(No I did NOT identify my self as being a member of "Nascarcamping")

 WTG...that is such a crock!! Like you said...if something is donated...then there is 100% profit regardless.
Good job on that information...opened my eyes...
This is getting better than a soap opera!!

I had a " chat" with them yesterday, and they tried to explain what they thought was going on, but I dont think they really understood what was happening.
They said that they would report the issue.
I explained how ebay worked and had things built in so we can see who was bidding on the items and their reputations, so then we dont have any " hidden" potential bid stuffing scenarios.
I personally would have been interested in some of the items, but not now.
