We are in Winners Walk II, Richmond Blvd, spot 19 right next to the chainlink fence. You can see my 43 flag flying from the track. 8)

We should be pulling in Thursday, leaving early on Monday.

That would be great, I know they opened it last year, they say it is gated, etc..., I cant remember if it is brand new or just a re-name of an old one....

these renames I cant keep up if it is :x

us oldtimers with still call the track " Alabama"

I can too - it's going to be right across from us - next to Legends Lane. Interesting to see how the "no alcohol policy" will work?

No ALCOHOL?? WHAT? I havent heard about that.....definitely wont ever be camping there....:(

I think it is great that they have a "Family" campground at Dega now..because we all know how rowdy all the rest of them can be...I just wont be camping there....ever..:)

I'm coming to join the fun. this will be my first "campout" at a track. gonna try the sleeping in the van, using a screen room kinda thing just to see how i like it! if i love it (duh) then i'm going to do it up right for the next race. I'm coming solo so i'm a little leary but hope to find bunches of new friends!

I'm in family section D, so racegirl we will have to find each other!

see ya all there, judy

mary,

yep i'm coming solo. i'm 56 (oh i hate that). maybe i should say my body has been around 56 years, but my brain thinks i'm only 30!!!

last year was my first live race and it was dega. and oh yea, i'm an addict. i'm trying the camping thing for the first time. if i dig it then i'm going to get a pop up camper and start hitting race tracks everywhere!
hoping i hit them all before i have to pack it in and pretend like i'm old!

ha ha. the following pretty much sums up my view on life!!!

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out & loudly proclaiming--WOW--WHAT A RIDE!"

see everyone there, judy

09-22-2007, 11:30 AM
oh yea, 1 more thing.

could i have a quick low down on the bead thing?

should i bring some? and why?

thanks judy

racegirl2210
09-22-2007, 02:27 PM
Well...you are only as old as you feel...:) Sometimes I feel 50 I swear. The bead thing..well...lets just say it is like MARDI GRAS every where you turn in the campgrounds at night. Usually not so much in our area..more towards the FREE CAMPING..but that is where we will be most of the time...we just got a reserved spot because last year we woke up with a tent at our pop up's door....haha...So if you are coming solo...dont bring beads..JUST EARN THEM...lol...

I guess that is all for now.

takeabreath3
09-22-2007, 09:04 PM
ok, i will just follow your lead on the beads!!

see ya there, judy

jennyt43fan
09-23-2007, 02:39 PM
We don't take beads.....and I don't usually come home with any either

I'm not much into getting beads for showing any part of my anatomy....money, fame, fortune....any of those and I might think about it....but for a nickle set of beads??   Nah..... :D

We have to go looking for the "party" at both Texas and Talladega seeing as we camp away from and just go to see what the crazies are doing. :P

takeabreath3
09-23-2007, 10:39 PM
ok, well trust me guys, NO one will be giving me any beads (even nickle beads) to see any part of my anatomy!! LMAO

so it seems i will be beadless. but hey i'm all for finding and oogling the crazies! we will all have to meet up for that!

see you guys at dega,

judy

Well, I collected a huge bag of beads when I was at Madigras. No I didn't show any part of my body! I collected them from the Parades.... I was about to get rid of them, but now I think I will save them for when I can make one of those crazy races...... :D

Well, we head out in the morning to take a leisurely drive over to Talladega :D We're stopping along the way and we'll pull in on Wednesday or Thursday, depending on how much fun we're having just getting there!

I'll probably be offline for the entire trip - but if I run into WIFI somewhere I may pop on.

Safe travels to everyone that is heading that way - see ya there!! 8)

Rick - such a CUTIE!! I'm talking about the baby of course

Congrats on the new grandbaby. My niece should be having her baby today - she did a good job holding off going into labor, as my sister told her she'd better find a way to make it through Talladega before she had her! LOL :D

It was great to meet you (finally), thanks for stopping by and saying Hi. You have a great spot in WWI. If we didn't enjoy our neighbors so much in WWII I would have tried to get back there - it's nice bcz it has the trees and it isn't on the slope.

Our drive back wasn't so great. We left later than usual (BIG mistake). Pulled out of there at 6:50 am got back to Magnolia at 10:30 pm. Got stuck in race traffic getting to I-20 and then on I-20 in construction right before Meridian - had the truck in PARK on the freeway for at least 30 mins. :? We won't make that mistake again!!

Glad to hear you made it back safe and sound. Only 3 more weeks to TMS!! 8) :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks, We are excited and proud of course.

Over the years we learned to leave no later than 5am or wait till 9am. We did have to wait a few minutes at the Flying J to dump.

At the construction just before Meridian we came across about 6 motorcycle riders and one of them had been forced off the road by an 18 wheeler. He was ok but had a few road burns and his foot was hurting. They got back on the bikes and were on there way to the Houston area.

good morning all, i left my camp site at 9 am! got on I-20 at 11 am!! next year i'm using the back roads! I-20 was horrible! that was the only bad thing i could say about the weekend. all else was GREAT.

i was like you jenny, set on I-20 in park visiting with the other dega fans!!!

told em we should just go ahead and have another tail gate party!

see ya at the next race,

judy

Last year I-20 was the worst road I have ever been on I was down to 30 mph because of the bumps, is it still that bad

jennyt43fan
10-11-2007, 02:41 PM
Yes, I-20 is still pretty bad, but not as bad as I-10 between Lake Charles and Iowa, LA - now THAT will rattle your teeth til they hurt! :?

Judy - glad to hear you made it back safe and sound but sorry you got stuck in all the traffic too. I guess at least you made it to Vickburg where you finally had running water and electricity!

Rick - glad to hear the biker was OK. The construction was right as the big rigs were reentering the freeway from the weigh station, so I can imagine it would be pretty hairy right there.

Now we just have all the traffic on I-35 to TMS to look forward to....ahhh the joys of going to a race!

We pulled out around 10:00am. It took about 30 minutes or so to get past I-20 on 77, but once we got past that it was smooth sailing up 77 over to 431 , up to I-59 and back to Knoxville. Well, except for the right lane on I-59. I think I need a Kidney transplant after bouncing down that Interstate.
