I can't wait, as many of you can attest to. 2008 Speedweeks will be great. I will be there in the West Lot arriving on Mon or Tuesday. So much to do in Daytona anyway but will be more for 2008. Races at New Smyra most likely (only about 20 miles) , Volusia County Speedpark in Barberville about 15 20 miles from the track always has great dirt track racing during Speedweeks. Drivers are always at differnt places in town for autograph signings, show cars everywhere. Not to mention Hooters across the street from the Speedway, mr Camping that story???? Pictures at 11??? I used to live in Port orange back in the 80s. Lots of fun spots for cold drinks, good food and great people all around town. Do yourself a favor and do some things away from the track if you have time. But by all means don't bother trying to go anywhere on Sat or Sun, just stay hunkered down at the track, have your food, beverages etc becausetraffic will be horrible at best

I'm kinda in the same boat you are. I would also have to convince my instructors at school that going to Daytona for a week or so is more important than my classes. I just don't think many of them would understand

We will be in the red zone infield. Wasnt planning this at first, then started thinking of all the new exciting things, on top of the 50th running of Daytona... like, COT car at Daytona race, Dale Jr. driving for Hendrick Motorsports and mostly just wanting to go to Daytona. My wife likes NASCAR as much as me. I am giving this to her(US) as a Christmas present.. ssshhhhhh. I say all of us from this forum that are going to Daytona make plans to meet up while there. What do you think. Some group photos for the website??

Is the Fan Zone worth the price? Is the 4-day pass better than getting the 1-day cup race Fan Zone?

Ron, I would try to stay away from Fan Zone during the last day or so, as it is crazy busy there.
When we are there for the 9 days or so, you want to get everything done and seen before the Saturday and Sunday Race.
It was free for us the first year:D
Fan zone will also be bigger this year as they are building a new section over the south garages.
Get there early in the morning right when it opens, you can go for a walk, and have the entire place to yourself, it is a really neat view of the garages, the first year I was the only person there, it was rather surreal actually.
We wil be getting there without a toad. Is public transportation into Dayton Beach readily available? We are very excited as this is our first Daytona and our second NASCAR (Watkins Glen was first).

We'll be going for the first time and looking forward to the entire experience. This website has been great for researching the Daytona infield since we've never been. We are in the Yellow reserved section.

I made up a facebook group also for us, and have some videos over there go check them out:)
Turn your volume full blast and enjoy:)
ahhh the memories......
Daytona never sent my renewal info. for my Lake Lloyd space last year, so we are not going! They said there was some sort of mixup with my account. They actualy stated that I had more than one account. My reply was that I should have gotten more than one notification! They _issed me off!
Hope everyone that does attend {especially whomever got my space} has a good time!

Jeff, I am hoping and praying this is not you my neighbour at Daytona, you and Erika?
But I see you are from Florida, so my fears may be correct.
This is really %$#@&* up, Daytona also sent ALL my tickets to an address I used to live at 4 years ago:mad:
I got a phone call from a guy who found me by googling this website and my name, go figure!
He said he had a UPS package for me!!
Nice guy and I thank him for that, I called Daytona and they had nothing to say for themselves.....
Weird thing is though, I had lots of tickets all delivered to my new address for Daytona and all the other tracks over the years also, so they really messed up here.
Jeff, this is really terrible news, the whole gang was looking forward to seeing you this year, and looking forward to more brownies from Erika:D
Wifey remembers that:mrgreen:
Anyways, I would take this up with the BIG BRASS at Daytona, you and I together and 2 huge screwups?

HEY CHICKEN LEGS WE ARE GOING WITH CAMPING WORLD ALSO!! Maybe see y'all there. By the sounds of the itinerary I just got in the mail, we are in for the best time and with none of the hassles of transportation and parking. Nice to park the rig and let the luxury coach drive us to the events during speed week.

Looking forward to it. This will be our first major trip with this coach and really wanted a no brainer set up when we got to Daytona. I think this will work out pretty well. See Ya next month !

I just got 2 BIG boxes of goodies in that I ordered, I found a way to order them, simply through a secondary Nascar website......
My coat is awesome, even though its a touch larger than my identical Chase coat, but this is okay, I can use this as a winter coat with a sweater underneath, I will order a smaller one:mrgreen:
I got a puzzle, ice bucket, coat, flag, plastic tumblers, ice mugs.
On backorder, is a mousepad, large flag, and denim shirt.

Glad you were able to get your gear. It is odd that you have to go to such lengths to get some things done.

Speaking of apparel, what advice would you give us first timers to the Daytona 500. Heavy coats? Sweatshirts? or t-shirts and shorts?
Also, any other good to have equipment? Ear plugs? etc
Nascarcamping

all of the above, it went below freezing there last night, and also when we where there before:)
Lots of earplugs is always a good idea!

Last year's 500 was my first ever Nascar race and MAN was it the BEST! I watched the 500 from the roof of our friend's RV in green reserved parking, front row, 3 spots from the pits; right where Jr. spun out at the race at the end of turn 4 and the crashes began on the last lap after the red flag.
WOW!!!
I'm hooked. I still get goosey bumps thinking about it.
Well I and my 5 pals have secured slot 1202 in orange car/truck/tent camping. We also got the 4 day pit superpass. I'm going to do my best to plan for what seems to be a wild-n-crazy 4/5 days.
