Was thinking of all your folks at Dega camping while I was watching Speed over the weekend. Sure you all had fun. The cot seemed to work out ok. it was pretty racy

We made it home about 11 pm last night. Had a great time (of course :P ) Caught up with Judy and visited with her a lot - she's an absolute hoot! Also met Rick Cushenberry, his son and also his friend (at last) because he was nice enough to drive over and find me! :D :lol:

As usual the trip went by in a flash and before I knew it......Jeff Gordon and won and it was time to go home :roll: :roll: :? :? :wink: :wink: :wink: (Someone pinch me - did he REALLY win?) :wink: :wink:

I am hanging my head in shame because as we were pulling out of the campground yesterday morning I realized I hadn't taken any pictures of the other members I met AND I didn't get any of the new family campground. But we did drive past it and it was pretty much the same as Legends Lane and Winners Walk II - gravel pads (not level - on a hill as most are) with a grass area in between. Gravel roads. The campground is enclosed with a chainlink fence and has security on it 24/7. IMO the only difference was the no alcohol policy - which I'm sure is the point. Winners Walk has newspaper delivery etc.

The race was good - not the best we've seen at Talladega IMO. I didn't like the fact that nobody could/wanted to run the bottom line and so there were long stretches of single line racing just burning laps.

Of course the fact that Bobby had a car that could have won the race that decided to just go left was't exactly a highlight either! :? :wink: But Scott got to see the "real" 88 run well before it goes over to the dark side. :D :wink:

So that's my Talladega update - we survived it and had a great time. Nothing beats the sound of those engines wound up and running on a superspeedway....sigh! :D 8)

That new JG commercial is already driving me crazy :lol: That would truly be a punishment! :P No air guitar for Scott this time. Apparently he was singing karaoke but that was when he was cruising the campgrounds with our neighbors on Saturday night and I elected to stay back at our site - who knows what trouble he got into! :wink: He made it back, so I guess it couldn't have been that bad. :wink: :D

Yep, those are some Awesome pictures. We went to Dega last year and that Track is HUGE!!!!! Glad that everyone had a great time and I hope to see everyone at TMS in Nov.

Very cool pics. 8) Wish I could have been there... oh wait I could have had I known that one of my bosses had 4 tickets and no one used them :shock: . Of course by the time I found out it was too late to try to boogie down there. :evil: Glad you had fun, it was definately a crazy race.

Left Talladega around 5AM Monday and made it home at 6PM. 762 miles in 13 hours. Good time was had by all.

jen, thanks for the great pix. I was wondering how Judy made out doing th tent camping by herself. From what you seem to say she had no issues, great cause I was a bit worried myself. Anyway everyone keep the pix coming!!!!!! Seems a good time was had by all

o k guys, here i am and yes i survived DEGA.

OMG i had so much fun. of course hanging out with jenny and family is what really made it great. Thank you again jenny and family for making my race weekend unforgettable!

my camping set up was just perfect for 1 person. could not have wanted for anything else except maybe some electricty to blow dry my hair! by sunday it was a pretty scary thing!!! but hey thats what hats are for!!

i was having so much fun that i actually forgot to take any pictures!! i took 1 photo of my camp site after i got it set up. will try to figure out how to post it!

it took me until tuesday to get home, i had to stop in vicksburg and do a little gambling....really i had to stop and wash my nasty hair! it took me 2 hours in traffic to get off the speedway property! then another 3 hours to get to the mississippi state line! who in their right mind would do road construction the monday after the dega race!!!

so i'm now shopping for a motorhome and tickets to richmond, darlington, lowes and bristol for 2008! oh and of course i will be back to dega for year #3! may even have to go on down to daytona to see jr make his debut!
