Tech.....I have a 2005 keystone 249 Sprinter....last summer while traveling to the lake I had a blow out....all of my brakes were red hot ..the heat from the brakes exploded the tire...took the TT to my dealer ...he adjusted the brakes....took the TT to Bristol.. another tire explodes..other side of trailer...same problem all brakes are hot...took back to dealer... they had it for 3 weeks... problem still not solved..they replaced all brakes.. brake controller...problem still not solved..it seems that the brakes get some type of electrical charge from somewhere ????

THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM WITH BRAKES IS THE BRAKE CONTROLLER IS NOT SET CORRECTLY. MOST PEOPLE LIKE TO HAVE THE CONTROLLER SET TOO AGGRESSIVELY MEANING YOU CAN FEEL THE TRAILER PULLING BACK WHEN THE BRAKES ARE BEING APPILED WHICH IS WRONG THE OTHER ISSUE IS THAT THE CONTROLLER IS NOT SET FOR LEVEL DEPENDING ON TYPE OF B/C THERE ARE TWO DIALS ONE ON EACH SIDE LEFT FOR LEVELLING RIGHT SIDE FOR GAIN. THE BEST I CAN OFFER WITHOUT KNOWING THE TYPE OF B/C. BUT WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS CHECK YOUR SET UP MANUAL FOR THE BRAKE CONTROLLER. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU MAKE OUT OR LET ME KNOW THE TYPE OF B/C YOU HAVE AND I MAY HAVE MORE TO OFFER.

Tech...Reese Brakeman controller.....Even if I have the controller set at zero I still have heat build up in the rotors....I usually have the brakes set at 3.0 and the sync at 2....then i really have problems....The brakes were adjusted again last time before I winterized the TT ...haven't had it out yet...called the dealer again...he is calling keystone to see if they have an answer????

another way to check the b/c is with a volt/ohm meter at the plug on the tow vehicle lift the cover and you will see the contacts the two we want to check are at the 5 and 7 o`clock use the meter to see if we have any voltage there with the vehicle running if no voltage b/c is good and set correctly if there is voltage the b/c is not set right so with that you can try to reset the b/c so there is no voltage and if that can`t be done then the b/c is defective.

Tech,
Going back to the dealer this weekend.....Its about a 80 to 90 mile trip....he asked me to set the B/C as usual.....after 80-90 miles 90% four lane interstate...not much braking....should the rotors be so hot that you can't touch them or just warm ????

the hubs should be warm
stop half way and check
when you get to the dealer check again
if you can i would get them to take at least one wheel off to check the grease in the hub
good luck hope they get it right this time!
