Camping at Memphis Motorsports Park
by Bill Thorsberg, NascarCamping.com site visitor
We go to the truck and Busch Races at MMSP each year and enjoy camping in the season ticket holder section - we've camped in general admission section as well. First off the thing everyone should know is that the people that operate this facility and work for them are the nicest people in the world. If you ask a question, you will receive an answer. If you have a request they will do their best to fulfill it. They repeatedly go out of their way and beyond the call of duty to make our experiences at the track as nice as possible. Yesterday when I was parking the trailer, the field had been soaked by rain for days and there was some puddles across the campsites. Track owned and operated four wheelers and tractors were on hand pulling RV's and tow vehicles out of the mud and taking it all in stride, even the people who got stuck had smiles on their faces. I was lucky enough to be able to see some cup cars practice at the track earlier this year - pictures included.
Camping at Memphis
Like I said - everyone here is NICE and helpful. The campgrounds are essentially grass covered parking lots. They're fairly level, no hookups, very limited restroom facilities (on the season ticket side of "Victory Lane Rd" there is a small cinder block restroom facility that has one shower in the men's side and one in the women's - sparse, but also under used so there's not a crowd if you need to use it. Trash cans are plentiful - every site had one this year. You can get GREAT parking spots as late as Thursday before either of the Nascar race weekends but reservations are nice if you have several campsites in mind - I think you need to buy season tickets (busch and truck) to have access to the reserved lots. One thing difficult to find is a campground layout numbered to assist you in selecting your campsite - the best you can hope for is the pdf on the website now that just shows the rectangular areas where the campsites are laid out.

According to the official site, on NHRA weekends, Memphis Motorsports Park offers a limited number of exclusive
Trackside RV locations, putting you and your rig in the middle of the action
near the finish line.
Memphis Motorsports Park also has general RV parking on-site (no hook-ups) for all of our major events. For the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Busch Series races, general RV parking normally opens on Thursday of race week.
NASCAR Season Ticket Holders can request reserved general RV spaces for both races.
For RV reservations, please call the Memphis Motorsports Park ticket office toll-free at 1-866-40-SPEED (77333). Ticket office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. CST.
For nearby RV accommodations with hook-ups, try Sam's Town Tunica , 1-800-946-0711 or Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park , 1-800-471-5293.
General RV parking opens at 10:00am on the Thursday before the event and costs $60 for the entire weekend.
New for the 2007 NASCAR season is the addition of Reserved RV Spots for Season Ticket Holders. Located in RV lot F on the west side of Victory Lane, Season Ticket Holders have the option to reserve a spot ($100 per race) that will be yours as long as you renew your tickets.
